Yes, I know I'm old, get off my fucking lawn so I can yell at these clouds.

Yeah, any of the patrols that end with an endless, timed wave of enemies will do it fast.

edit: provided you don't have an utterly potato build. of course pubbies were complaining that they leveled slower because they could only kill one or two waves which . . . lol

There is an amazing number of pubbies that still have complete potato builds. I was in that new event STF today and 3 out of the 4 pubbies spent the entire time just getting blown up over and over again by ground turrets and contributing literally nothing to finishing the mission.

Nowhere near as much as patrols. For quick grinding, open the STF menu, click on the ‘patrol’ tab and just do patrols until you hit Mastery 5/6. Don’t even need to leave ESD to do it anymore.

Most of the STFs with infinite respawning waves don't give mastery XP for them no, because gently caress you in particular, the player. :toot: The last one or two that did that at least changed it but it's still not a whole lot, 10-20ish or something insultingly low.

Defense of starbase one or other similar queues where you kill a shitload of generic ships.

Space battlezones. Either the badlands (terrans) or the dyson sphere (voth) ones are best. The tzenkithi one has been a broken mess since it launched and is best avoided. The dyson one seems to always have people running it so shouldn't be an issue to complete ad nauseum if you skip zones after each completion.

Oh I guess there is also the gamma quadrant hurq space battles stuff. You have to fight hurq though. Blegh.

The takeaway is we'll never see the glorious ship mastery speeds of spamming delta & romulan patrols again.

Yeah assuming you can kill ships in even a vaguely quick period of time the new post-Disco patrols will get you a bazillion mastery XP. The older ones don't though.

they never bothered adjusting xp modifiers for queues so no, although the newer ones + the revamped Borg ones give decent mastery xp (patrols are still faster tho)

Yeah. My go to is the one where you rescue kumarki. Forget the name, but just look for that. It plays fast and culminates in a gently caress off huge battle against klingons that respawn. I consider myself off my game if I can't master a ship in two runs of that.

IIRC there's a daily bonus attached to those so you might have to just run each of the good ones once a day. Even so it's still WAY faster than grinding the old patrols. Honestly I don't really care if I only run one or two patrols a day. The reward is good enough that I master a ship every other day or so even only doing one. and frankly one or two patrols is kind of the sweet spot for me enjoying star trek pew pew space battles vs. zoning out and putting on podcasts to entertain me while I grind.

I prefer the rescue one rather than 9th rule since it doesn't have a chance of spawning hirogen that constantly clear your buffs, but same net effect really.

"Surprise, muthafucka."
For those of you who fly/have flown escorts: I’ve been having a lot of fun flying the regular and T5 Defiants versus my usual Cruiser broadsiding, and now I have a choice to make.

I can get either a Fleet T6 Defiant or a Fleet T6 Magee Pilot Escort. Ever since I read about the pilot ships I wanted one and this might be my only opportunity for a long while. I’ve been comparing stats/weapon slots/stations/consoles, and except for one less aft weapon slot and no cloak, the Magee seems to have the advantage without even counting the Pilot Maneuvers, but...

...It’s just so damned ugly compared to a Defiant and I’m in the middle of a DS9 rewatch. So this is probably an obvious choice, but any advice or experience with these ships would be appreciated!

It's probably not helpful to point out that the legendary Defiant has pilot maneuvers.

So, my advice is to get the Magee. Full pilot ships are a ton of fun to fly, and since you (apparently) missed the free one this summer, this is the only one that doesn't cost zen or come from a lockbox. Then save up for the fleet Defiant.

And post your full in game name. I think I have a couple of FSMs taking up space in my account bank that I could mail to you.

No problem. I'll send them when I get home later tonight.

And remember, though it does take awhile, you can eventually get enough modules for two free fleet ships per character by getting all the reps to T6.

WTF even is fleet voucher dill? Dill for donating to fleet projects only?

Note that this should probably also crater the zen market. Less dill floating around means it should be worth more compared to zen. So if you're holding any zen sell off before this happens.

Our wiki had an article on starship traits that said Supremacy was one of four "must haves" for both cannon and beam boats. It comes from a lobi ship.

So, assuming it hasn't been powercrept into obsolescence since the article was written, go for that?

Apparently not from the advice/gear I’ve gotten from vets. If I have a third aft slot I might slot in some projectile. With 4 cannons (hopefully dual heavy) fore and 2 turrets aft, you’re bringing 6 weapons to bear on a target provided you have the power since turrets are 360 degrees. Pilot spec skills (and pilot ship maneuvers) can help a lot in keeping all 6 on target. Just my thoughts from my limited experience flying them a lot for the past month.

(Though I probably shouldn’t admit this, for a short bit I switched to a canon ((cannon)) Defiant with fore 2 phaser dual cannons, phaser array, quantum torp, and rear phaser array and quantum torp. You know...for fun!)

If they're leaving the individual admiralty mission dil rewards alone (the ones that give you 500-2k dil), then people who already have a bunch of event and c-store ships will still be able to make dil (at a lower rate, admittedly), while totally screwing over newer players.

It's also going to make gearing up alts a lot more difficult - buying rep and fleet items and upgrading them can burn a lot of dil.
