BitBasher posted:That's literally in the show's intro montage for a split second! (if I remember right) Season 1 intro first jump is close. The one at the end is pretty hard, but the one I'm thinking of was over a stream or river. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6fSEf6tnG4 I think the one I remember is the landing for the second jump (the one over the river/stream) shown in the intro (which *landing* is not shown) in the 3rd /4th season intro. It's a much harder landing, with the car approaching a 45-degree Fahrenheit angle. 10 seconds in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SOOKL_h8p8&t=10s Just saw that on Imgur. I'm impressed by how realistic the suspension action is. edit: I don't see the specific one I'm thinking of here (I *think* it was the episode with Cale Yarborough), but there are plenty of massive hits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwqXjTaOBAw I love how many landings don't match the jump, but at the same time how many they left the hoods buckling and trunks opening in. Depended ion season, I imaging. Also how many had the car forward of the front wheels conveniently out of frame. Darchangel fucked around with this message at 18:43 on Feb 28, 2020 |

John Schneider said they jumped about two cars every episode and each time they were totaled, so about 280 minimum General Lees were destroyed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NayLSPII8uI Pretty interesting stuff Applebees Appetizer fucked around with this message at 18:59 on Feb 28, 2020 |

CommieGIR posted:There has got to be more to this fantastical failure. Edit: Until I noticed there's no engine, I totally bought it: Based on the 93 YJ I used to have, my assumption was 3" or more body lift. Every single body mount on mine needed to be rewelded because those tall rear end lift pucks overstress all the metal around them. IIRC there are 11 mounts on a YJ, and 6 of mine were completely broken through the tub. The rest had caused enough damage that they needed to be cut out and new metal welded in. It's fake, I swear the hand and tool is photoshopped in. My money's on the rim being broken by slamming into a curb, you can see the chowdered up metal near the bead. Before towing it off they rolled the tire over and snapped a photo. Then some clever individual decided to jazz things up with the power tool.

and all the spokes still attached to the hub are different lengths we could keep going, but it’s fake. really I posted to chime in that I saw a virtually identical tire/rim, sheered off spokes and all, on the far LH side of the I-5 in San Diego the other day. I wondered how far it rolled for the tow truck/cops/car’s owner to have not taken it along with the rest of their (presumably) hosed car
