Trump said, all in the exact same speech, it'll miraculously go away not a big deal, it's a big deal because Democrats are making it one to attack him, I'm so awesome and well prepared we will have a vaccine for this hoax in a few months. He's a loving mush brained geriatric dementia patient. Nothing he says is tethered to reality.

I read 12-18 months for a vaccine. That could be wrong, I don’t even know where I read it. How do they determine such a timeline? It’s not like they are building something like a house. Or are they?

Hoover was a smart guy and understood it was a problem, and tried to address the worsening Depression in some ways, but was ideologically opposed to direct government intervention into the economy. An excellent manager for specific tasks (Such as organizing relief for Belgium during and after World War I, for which he was famous), but absolutely the wrong leader for the country at that time. Trump, meanwhile, is just a loving idiot.

Woofer posted:I read 12-18 months for a vaccine. That could be wrong, I don’t even know where I read it. Timeline based on ones that have been made before. It's not like flu where you have a lurking population of different H and N genes out there that shuffle around in antigenic shift between strains. So far its what we call antigenic drift which follows with regular viral intrinsic mutation as it gets copied. Totally unknown right now that this would be enough to necessitate multiple vaccine types. This would be unlike other coronavirus if it did in fact do that.
