That is one of the big things about Sid Meier, he didn't take a decades long hiatus from video game development like these others have. He also hasn't taken advantage of his fanbase with sketchy kickstarters.

Are there any of the "rockstar" developers from that era that didnt go on to become sleazy electronic snake oil salesmen? Even John Carmack got caught up in a situation involving stealing trade secrets. And hes the least offensive developers from that era I can think of. And honestly even he was an rear end in a top hat, I grew up in Mesquite, TX where id was based during that time. He was notorious in the area for doing stupid poo poo on public roads in his Ferrari.

(There was never any serious discussion of any of that Neverdie stuff when I was there, I think Richard had plans for it if the ICO took off, but it didn't and then Portalarium didn't and well then!)

It's not that he's done nothing as bad as Daikatana, it's that Daikatana was so bad he's done nothing good since. Well, he was a co-founder of Gazillion, that did the ill-fated Marvel Heroes game, which wasn't terrible. But other than that he did a mediocre Gauntlet game and a bunch of mobile stuff. Daikatana has a pretty good fan patch that fixes a lot of stuff, like the AI not being as bad is a big one. It's actually playable if you can stomach the graphics.
