Ugh. One of the neighbourhood cats decided that a small 9cm plastic flower pot was a good litter tray substitute. So it's obviously tried to squat over it and mostly missed. And it's raining. So now I have the nice job of cleaning up a plastic pot with a sloppy catshit drippled down the side and over some pebbles. Give me COVID-19...

Can Labour pass a vote of no confidence assuming they have enough surviving MPs and run a coronavirus coup? Re: Results - it depends on where you are. For my centre the inpatients are getting results in 24 hrs, others in 48 (I think) and for those hospitals shipping samples in it's 4-6 days. Which means testing has very little utility in guiding containment at this time unless they can ramp it up rapidly. At this stage the UK is starting to look like Wuhan mid-January and we are going to progress to Italy since the UK govt is incapable of magically summoning hospitals out of the ground. If everything is shut down now maybe we can mitigate some of that damage but lol if Westminster clowncar manages to make any meaningful decisions. My nan was a little girl living in Chelmsford back during the blitz. Apparently one day they heard a V1 stop directly overhead and her mum (who was carrying her) threw her down the basement stairs to get her to safety. Thankfully a strong wind blew the thing into a farmer's field, but apparently it was quite close. it's the "flatten the curve" bit, I think, after you've given up on keeping it to a limited outbreak I'd hope this is when they finally pull their heads out of their arses and start recommending self isolation for respiratory symptoms and social distancing, if they don't go the whole hog and lock everything down I should really ask my mum about it at some point

I wonder what the constitutional precedent is if the govt benches are all quarantined/in hospital/dead? Can Labour pass a vote of no confidence assuming they have enough surviving MPs and run a coronavirus coup? Technically yes, but it would be extremely dodgy and all they could do with it is call a General Election in which they'd have to put their own seats up for grabs as well. I would expect an increased Tory majority if they tried. It would be much better to instead put through only some emergency regulations (including extending the Brexit transition period) before closing the house for non-essential business until the crisis ends and by-elections could safely be held.
