I emailed before to cancel my flights, and got this in response:

quote:

We need to work in an order of priority which currently has returning travellers and cancellations in the next 48 hours at the top of the list.  We value you and appreciate the stress this will be causing you. To alleviate that, let me confirm there are no urgent needs on your cancellation now and can be cancelled up to 3 days prior to travel. Please allow me to set time over the next 5 days where I can check back in with you to reassure you of your situation and make the cancellation when we've been able to work through the urgent list. I'm entering these times in my diary as we speak and I ask that you make a note of them at your end also.

How many loving cancellations are they getting that they need to schedule doing them? :stare:

all the customer service depts of all the airlines, booking agencies, etc have been getting blitzed nonstop since the speech on Thursday night. we're on the last day of an international trip to a pretty remote area, and our airline and booking company have been sending out emails every day saying "please for the love of god stop calling us unless you're within 7 days/2 days/1 day of travel, we're at max capacity"

as much as everyone rags on the customer service industry, some airlines do a pretty drat impressive job when you consider the volumes they face with no-notice disruptions

Yeah, this is partly why I'm considering asking for crisis meds from my doc, 'cause a) former smoker, b) prone to panic, and b) is exceptionally bad when it comes to 'oh no I can't breathe,' so. Being able to properly ascertain the actual state of my lungs would be a good thing.

So yeah, I also do Orangetheory, and the only thing that’s kept me going until now was how religious the instructors have been about making everyone wipe down every surface they’ve come into contact with, even before COVID was a thing.

Considering buying some free weights and a bench over Craigslist and working out in my basement storage unit instead.

I just got a kick out of the "peloton's not so bad now that you have to stay home so hmmmmmm?????" garbage angle of that piece. Peloton is still garbage for the majority of people and just loving lol at buying a $3k bike with a subscription service instead of buying a generic exercise bike at a thrift store and a stack of fitness dvds for literally a fraction of the cost.
