I tried this 2 weeks ago and they umm and arrd about it and said maybe I was above average risk. Last week tried again and got a letter within one day and told not to come to the GP surgery under any circumstances because of how high risk I was.

Against all odds, came back with nine rolls of Royal Assent. Flour(???) and eggs still wiped out but bog roll, pasta and bananas were almost-but-not-quite, which is better than the last few days. Bread and milk was plentiful. peanut- posted:https://twitter.com/bbclaurak/status/1242011054986723328 What's most infuriating is the journalists pretend that they don't know this is what's going on, and they're "just reporting".

Yeah I just nipped to my local big Sainsbury's and stock seemed to be returning to normal. Plenty of milk and bread, still a bit of cleaning products left. Can't say I looked for bog roll because we already had a stash (there's only 2 of us so we always buy more than we need) but the food aisles seemed more stocked than they have been. One thing I have noticed is that there's always been plenty of ready meals. I know they're not the most healthy of options (and more expensive) but I'm surprised the middle class panic buyers aren't stockpiling those like some pseudo-MRE. I've been grabbing a couple every time I go out because I might as well eat that rather than make my own while fresh meat is low.

Same, I've just been eating microwave meals for the last week because every time I go to the supermarket the shelves are empty of ingredients but the ready meals section is still full. I figure it's because 90% of microwave meals are for one person, which is no use for entire families stuck at home.

Also, ready meals generally don't last long. People are panic buying in order to be able to last a while.

They need fridge/freezer space which can be at a premium either with a family and /or in a rented flat maybe?

Hope they've stocked up on Ben & Jerrys, getting fed up of them only having Phish Food. Gimme something different to gorge myself on dammit. About to go into town when the bus gets here in 20 minutes. Comrade Fakename posted:Also, ready meals generally don't last long. People are panic buying in order to be able to last a while. Bung them in the freezer, they'll last a good long while. Obviously if you leave them in a cupboard they'll not last but if you've got freezer space because nothing else is available to buy then use it. Though I'm sympathetic because the place I rented in Glasgow had one tiny fridge for the 2 of us, and just an icebox, no freezer. loving balls like.

I know we all remember them as sad microwavable lasagnae, but there's some good stuff if you look. The Co-Op used to do microwavable rice/beans/pasta in sauce type things that I used for ingredients for other larger less lazy meals because it worked out cheaper than buying all of those things separately (unless I wanted to cook for 40 and freeze, and I don't have that much freezer space).

Shopping update: Everything apart from bog roll, eggs and (most) pasta available at my local Asda, and queues were less than they are at 9am Saturday when I normally shop. Also apparently the people waiting outside to get in at 9am to shop after NHS staff were allowed their hour applauded and cheered them as they came out, which is kinda cringeworthy but also a bit

Even if it is stuff headed for the bin, someone still had to have the humanity to think of doing this. People are often selfish, frequently dumb, and almost invariably have ridiculous opinions, but most of them are still fundamentally good, and we need to remind ourselves of this occasionally otherwise whats the point?

My partner has broken our isolation a couple of times to go for a walk along the Exe, which is directly outside our flat complex. To get there she only needs to touch the building door handle and the button to get out of the outer gate, and the buttons to get back in, all of which she does with her sleeve or something, which immediately then goes in the wash. When she walks, she'll see maybe two or three other people along our length doing the same thing, and they'll be, like, 200 metres away most of the time (and certainly never close than ten) I think I already know the answer, but this is probably as close as we get to safety as we can get without absolute, total lockdown, right? I can cope fine, since I'm a fucken goon (haven't left the flat for a week now, and I'm sailing along just fine) but she can't bear it for more than three or four days at a time, despite my gently nudging her to lump it. Should I nudge harder?
