If I had no food and there was no open food outlets around to buy from I'd consider it - they're only making 1 dish per night, which is a lot safer, and the desserts don't need to be kept in temperature. Only the gnocchi though, the rice for the other two they'll make in a big batch earlier and a home kitchen won't be able to get it cool for reheating later in a safe amount of time - if anything that's what'll make you sick. Salad getting cross contaminated by the meat in the fridge or benches would also be a contender.

We've bought take out from a bunch of struggling restaurants in the area, but it's always been directly from the restaurant themselves. I think buying from some rando shoving a letter in your mailbox, using potential stock imagery, is just asking for trouble; and feeding on peoples good intentions. The cynic in me thinks it's a credit card scam.

They're not trying to help - there are still food outlets open. The cynic in me suspects they're trying to make a tax free buck on food that's going to be written off as an expense ("thrown away") by their original business by cooking food in an uninspected home kitchen with unknown sanitation, storage, and temperature-control. A lot of places are still open and doing takeaways. And given the number of people working from home or in self isolation, there's a lot more people with time to make their own dinner.

I think its just two guys trying to hustle while their restaurant is closed, I don't think it is a meaningfully evil plan or even has much of a level of thought in it beyond "lets see if we can make a little money doing our job at home." Goddamn Woolworths only let my buy two Mi Goreng cups.

There is a Woolies literally under the building I would assume they'd take cash only. My wife was intrigued but I talked her out of it. We've been cooking every night ourselves.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised to get an 8pack of TP today, it was the good 3ply stuff too! I've lasted a month on a single roll of single ply so this should last until the heatdeath of the universe. Also got some normal spaghetti, that stuff has been constantly missing at my local! I was driving and couldnt take a photo but local bottlo had a hand written sign "I assure you we are open" - great clerks reference.

One daughter managed to get me two six packs of double length 3 ply, which will hopefully last me until I can get a priority assistance delivery from Woollies. Apparently Big W has had big packs of toilet paper lately, too. Sent my other daughter shopping yesterday and she was unable to find plain flour and the range of meat was limited, but that was late afternoon. She was able to get everything else on my list. The major inconvenience is being unable to just pop down the shops for anything I've forgotten, run out of, or was unable to get.

loving real estate agent running an open house in my building this morning. Against the rules, loving irresponsible as. Called the cops. Wouldn’t normally but there’s heaps of old people in this building and signs up from management everywhere. Cop said he would have to look up the rules because “they change every day” but was pretty sure it was not on.

My local woolies had a bug stack of dunny paper in the fruit and veg section that was being largely ignored by the many shoppers. The actual tp aisle was completely full of easter chocolate. I guess they're making lemonade out of the situation.

Killed my first chook today Mum has a bunch of australorps, and one of them was old and having trouble breathing (some sort of lung infection). So she got me to come around and chop its head off. Apparently mum has a friend she would normally ring up for this sort of thing, but coronavirus something something family members only something.

That said, if they're proper chefs they should definitely know better than trying to commercially produce food in a home kitchen.

Jestery posted:Someone explain this to me A "mortgagee auction" is where the bank forecloses on your rear end and sell the house out from under you. The banks don't really care too much about maximising sale prices, so they'll get a rough idea of market value (due diligence on their part to do so) and will sometimes let it go for a pretty low price since all they're allowed to retain is the outstanding value of the loan (the defaulting mortgagee retains anything left over). A "unique opportunity" is nonsense real estate person speak for whatever you want, possibly even code for "mortgagee auction". So if they advertised it as a mortgagee auction they probably got a tonne of people low-balling them, and if there's one thing vendors don't seem to want to accept right now it's that their loving investment product isn't worth the historically high prices they've been artificially sitting at (source: I just wanna buy a house to live in but not get terminally hosed).

I spent a long time and lots of loving around to make Felicity Cloake's perfect vegetable biryani tonight and it was OK but really not a big return for that much faffing about. Might be one of those things where it just can't be that good without the meat, like pho.

I didn't want to be a Karen but in this situation I had to be. 3 cars worth of people I've never seen rolled up across the road and entered the house for a few hours. Cops asked me to get licence plate numbers... gently caress off, get over here and police. I'll all for visiting a mate, but having that many people over including the suspicious bit of blocking two driveways might have made the cops actually respond.
