I haven't left my property in more than two weeks and I expected I'd be stir crazy by now, but no I feel just fine. I think playing D&D with friends over Fantasy Grounds has probably staved off the cabin fever, but I'm also prepared to accept that I'll be just fine however long this drat thing lasts.

The guidance for how we discuss death in this pandemic have, by design, an enormous grey area. These are strange, difficult times, and we need space to allow for people to express the feelings that come with that. C-SPAM, especially, needs space to be transgressive, or sarcastic, or to engage in nihilistic absurdism.

I know that grey area can, at times, make ambiguous what will be considered over the line. This is not one of those times. If you had stopped merely at noting the irony of his death, that would have likely been fine. If you had laughed at the irony of him being so wrong he died from it, that would have been a little riskier, but in most cases fine.

This is over the line. This is delighting in his death because he was the Prime Minister of the UK with lovely views. As mentioned before, punching up is great. Rand Paul getting coronavirus into his weak-rear end lungs that his neighbor shattered: loving amazing. Hilarious. A ray of sunshine in the thunderstorm. Scalia dying: a party! Great stuff.

This man was just some dumb elected official. It might be funny that he died of loving Brexit too hard, but it isn't good to celebrate his death in itself. #BeBest. User loses posting privileges for 3 days.

yeah of all the people to get smoked by coronavirus bojo certainly should get some crocodile tears, he's second only to trump in abhorrent behavior and that's only because he didn't give adderall laced speeches telling people, which have a large % of people with cardiovascular disease, to take "safe medicine" that will give them some sort of heart attack

You goony goons it doesn't give people heart attacks on the reg, if it did they'd give people an ekg before administering it which they don't.

It's got a favorable side effect profile and is relatively benign. Just because some goons want it to be chud poison does not make it so.

It's more than just a malaria drug, it has immunomodulatory actions which might actually have a plausible role in moderating neutrophils and prevent people's lungs from turning to jelly in the cytokine storm stage of the disease

It can alter the electrical potential of some cell membranes

Its action isn't exclusively mediated by zinc or whatever other bullshit I've read you "experts" state authoritatively. It's got tons of mechanisms of action many of which we don't yet understand.

One of the biggest failures of government in all this has been a lack of committing to buying a poo poo load of supplies such that companies can know if they retool or invest in equipment they'll have market for it. Like we should be signing contracts to buy thousands of ventilators and tens of millions of masks and if we don't end up using them all who gives a poo poo.

from the perspective of "capitalism is a failed system," even with those government commitments manufacturing would have to scale up capacity to meet those demands which means reinvesting into production, and because the demand is temporary those reinvestments become liabilities as soon as demand is no longer at the current level

so like once you build a machine that can test 5,000 samples at a time, you have that machine, and nobody else is going to buy that machine from you because the demand will not remain the same

once you build a new factory that produces ten million masks a day, nobody is going to buy your ten million mask factory once the demand for masks goes back down

so private corporations are inherently adverse to meeting these temporary spikes in demand because doing so would mean taking on future liabilities and investing in equipment they won't use in the future

there is not actually a way to solve this problem under capitalism. The government can incentivize producing masks and ventilators, but they cannot adequately incentivize scaling up production capacity, because at the end of the day the companies would be stuck "holding the bag" in the form of production capacity they don't want. The government could buy back that capacity in theory but then we're into "why doesn't the government just manufacture this poo poo to meet its own needs" and suddenly we're doing socialism.

But lololol it'll give chuds a heart attack qt intervals I'm smart

The one and ONLY reason I feel bad about Boris potentially dying is because his gf is pregnant and has coronavirus. I don't know what relationship they have because I don't keep up with that bs but there's the smallest possibility that child could be not evil and I wouldn't want it to not have a father

Please don't hate me but it's literally the only reason and I know it's stupid to humanize politicians but I don't want a baby to not have a father but he'd probably eat it anyway so yeah gently caress him

Monitor electrolytes regularly (see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS, Cardiovascular, and DRUG INTERACTIONS).
