Just blast the gently caress out whoever that person is, because that's something so incredibly ignorant that I can only assume that person has zero military experience. If they need crew testimonials their out there on social media.

Now granted I suppose in a world where that person hears that its okay to disassemble a 9mm on watch they may think that a CO who was relieved would try fuckery like that.

Well I'm sure that you, a relative with actual shipboard Navy experience can simply tell them how that would never happen and they would absolutely take your word.

OR they'll cover their ears and yell "lalalalalalala".

I don't get how everything gets politicized like this. I really don't. Obviously that person needs to throw a political filter on literally everything, for some reason.

If you've watched any amount of Fox News over the last 20-30 years you'd understand. It's literally political messaging 24/7 about everything. Before then politics used to be maybe nightly news and some dinner table conversation. Now people bathe in political messaging around the clock, and choose to do so.

There's no reason why something like, say, Trayvon Martin, or this USS TR story would need to have a "GOP/orthodox" vs. a "heretic" position, but they do, because they tend to align somewhat with what's going on in politics at the time (in this case C19 and whether it's a big deal or not and how seriously it should be taken, how much of a threat is it really, whether we really need to stop "business as usual" in response to it) and therefore become useful to reinforce political positions and talking points.

I mean when you really look at it the story of CAPT Crozier and the TR is kind of the whole story of what's going on with the United States, its government and its response to the epidemic in miniature.

(I don't think anyone would lie when making this transcript, but it would have to have been made real time by someone in the ship's company)

Someone on the ship recorded the speech, it's at the bottom of this article: https://taskandpurpose.com/news/navy-secretary-blasts-fired-aircraft-carrier-captain

As dumb and sordid as this whole thing is becoming, this is an unfair comparison. TR actual was 1) not a professional military member, his appointment as a colonel was something with no analogy today 2) hot and fresh from being the assistant secretary of the navy. He was very much a politician already so him handing the speech to the press was not a transgression of civil-military norms.

That said,

BREAKING: Acting Secnav apologizes for comments amid calls for his resignation.
