Oh hey, goggles projected to be the first kicker off the board.

I can't pretend to say I noticed him for any reason other than the rec specs, but after looking him up because of that I realized he was pretty good.

If it's handled through Zoom it almost certainly will be. Might see more dicks at the draft than we did at the combine.

Does anyone else find it weird that everybody prior to the patriots 1st pick drafted a long snapper?

I mean the Bengals have Clark Harris, MVP, and #1 long snapper in human history. It's weird that they picked a long snapper with the 1st overall pick. I definitely didn't expect Joe Burrow to fall to the Patriots.

Apparently Tua had multiple broken wrists that went unreported. He also failed one team’s physical.

What team failed Tua on his physical? That’s big news and sounds like a smokescreen. Tua falling from #1 to past Miami at 5 would be surreal.

Confirmed:
Broken left index finger
Sprained right knee
Left high ankle sprain
Right high ankle sprain
Dislocated right hip

And then add Broken wrist x 2 if the Lombardi report is correct.

So that's 7 injuries we know about.

I'm curious as to why you at least earlier liked Herbert, which I assume hasn't changed. Just the arm? Was there something else that you liked about him?

I think he'll be really bad but I think that about almost everyone.

He's worth taking in the first just based on potential but the injury history is a concern and I don't think it's been possible for teams to do thorough medical evaluations.

It's looking that way. Hiding all those wrist breaks injuries is a big deal but I suppose the NFL decision makers knew about that early.

The Bengals at 33 is just so fascinating. I think the most likely situation is they trade down. I'd make the pick if only one of Jones or Jackson fell at T or Queen or Baun fell at LB/E.

The only question mark I really have on D that I feel has a chance of being fixed in the draft is whether they can hold the edge, and obviously the line is the only glaring need on offense.

There's really only 3 ways to protect a rookie quarterback. You either give them time on the line, (which will be very tough for The Bengals in the coming year), minimize what they have to do with defense and the running game, (which is more achievable), or sit them.

If I'm running them I let pick 33 dictate what I'm planning on doing. If one of the premier 2nd tier tackles falls I draft multiple linemen. If Baun or Queen are there I double dip on Lb and grab an edge, draft at minimum a mid level guard who's a run specialist like Onwenu and hope for the best. If none of our screaming needs are available at pick 33 trade back. If it doesn't work out where you can effectively follow one of those two paths make the team prove that they can stop Findly from getting murdered before you put Burrow out there. That's a bitter pill, though, because most of the talent on the roster is either old, on a contract year, or both.

I agree but I definitely wouldn't take one on day 2 unless we somehow secure in an extra draft pick. There's a lot of day 3 guys who would probably be day 2 guys in other draft classes. The Bengals tend to be good at valuing late draft wide receivers. I'm high on Auden Tate and that might be informing my opinion.
