The pact is as much a symbolic show of no confidence towards the federal government's ability to responsibly handle the emergency as it is a way to use the west coast states' clout to help procure supplies and self-manage things. When you have the Feds intercepting ventilators and face masks for nebulous reasons AND trying to mandate looser restrictions way before it's reasonable, it makes sense to band together rather than stick out like a sore thumb.

The thing that has me scratching my head is how is it going to be distributed? Article I read says personal information will not be required to claim it. What are they gonna do, have folks walk up, get money, then stamp their hand like they're leaving an amusement park? Like how can you distribute $500 each to potentially millions of people without taking their info, without already having their info? I can't imagine they're just gonna hand it over to anyone willing to stand in a line. Am I missing something obvious?
