They still make it, but it looks a bit sleeker now, with a built in water tank instead of a little kettle on a see-saw switch like mine.

Don't you still have to get up and get the milk from the fridge anyway? Might as just make a cuppa while you're there.

Yup, And you still have to traipse between the bedroom and the kitchen to wash the used cup, then reset the machine with the washed/dried cup and the new teabag. And refill the teasmade. Oh and the added noise of the water boiling wakes you up 5 mins earlier than the alarm does. (Guess who has tried to use one of these in the past and given up after 2 days)

Isn't builders' tea strong bitter black with enough milk to make it vaguely drinkable and enough sugar to serve as a small meal?

Awful lot of people itt having strong opinions about proper tea-making practices yet still using tea bags instead of loose leaf. God. Have some dignity.

I remember the manual for my first desktop PC (an IBM Aptiva from 1999) had a page talking about using the CD-ROM and said to avoid using non-round discs, even providing an illustration of a heart-shaped and a star-shaped CD. This is the first time I've seen a non-round disc ever.

I remember there were promotional discs where the actual disc was a weird shape. They were usually the mini CDs with a couple tracks and then the plastic was cut into a crazy (hopefully balanced) shape. They were always small though, not full sized like that one. WTF.

Never had either of these, but I remember seeing them in the Nintendo Power catalogue and absolutely coveting them:

"Business card CD-ROMs" were a thing for a while: I never really saw the point; they always came in a plastic sleeve to avoid scratching, and even without the sleeve they were too big to fit in your wallet (hello scratch city)--and with the sleeve on, forget it. Also, the only time I ever got them was at conference show floors, where I'd usually have a backpack or just a freebie bag from some other booth, so I could just as easily carry a full-sized CD with me. And, of course, I didn't want to put the drat thing in my drive, especially when we started getting the ridiculously fast drives that sounded like a jet engine spinning up.

Those are at least symmetrical so they wouldn't be ripping themselves apart in your drive.
