unless you count sticking it to the man as a hedonist pursuit

But according to the RPG, there are also petal knights off living happy, quiet lives in isolation. We just see the ones in the comic getting by in urban parts of throne, using their skills as best they can to make money.

Also according to Operant the petal knights are the coolest and have their poo poo most together of all the angels

It's definitely the foot that makes it weird. Without that, it just looks stylized.

The one Petal Knight we've seen in the comic itself was extorting some guy and breaking teacups, which is pretty significant imagery. That kinda sets the tone for what's appropriate to expect from them until we meet any more of them. When they say "be gay, do crimes" I don't think that's the kind of crime they're usually talking about.

Oh. Whoops. Yeah I can kind of see how the feet are making it weirder, now that I look at the original again. I still think the original is really good though. That kind of perspective shot is really hard to pull off.

No special lens, that's just how foreshortening is. If you look at long things from certain close up angles with your own eyes, you'll see they look like this.

When Meti says that being a noodle vendor is a good thing to be, it isn't because noodle vendors don't care, it's because they care very deeply about something that makes people's lives better in a way you can actually control, without becoming a horrible control freak who ruins everyone around you.

You don't succeed by not caring - Incubus doesn't care. You succeed by caring very deeply about very close things.

Petal knights are reviled and practically outlaws among their own kind just by existing publicly. It stands to reason that any petal knight that dares to live in an urban area is likely to be drawn to a life of crime.

And again, I'm not making up the thing about some being nonviolent and solitary, it's straight from the RPG book:

Not all Petal Knights are ruthless or exploitive,
and some merely live solitary live away from their
brethren and the stifling rules of their order, seeking
the indulgences of mortal life denied to them for
so long.

Petal knights aren't more evil - they're more human.

The way I take it is that Petal Knights have abandoned any alliegence to a
higher duty in favour of self-indulgence. Which is not what WC is doing here. She's recognising that there are other important things as well as just the strict law, but she's choosing to act on morality.
