poor boris johnson, doing his very best to protect us with vague instructions that go against scientific advice, being failed by the people who take the advice at its general spirit and don't spend several hours of their busy lives looking into the confusing precise parts and trying to figure out from conflicting data what behaviour they should be doing in the absence of clear, accesible advice that means anything, while balancing the financial impact as the government winds down offering as much assistance for those who are affected

i mean people are morons, yes, but god drat they could know what they're meant to do a lot better
