I had this near the top of my wishlist too but am passing now that the remake of Friends of Mineral Town is coming to steam, and is out soon. I dont know if my memory is correct but I remember the GBA version being the most polished evolution of the harvest moon formula from the SNES on until they got to the DS games and beyond and everything had to have a gimmick.

Generations is pretty fun, has a lot of side scrolling compared to the previous games (unleashed, adventure, 2006). The worst part of the game is the final boss fight.

Sonic Generations is from 2011, so not all that modern anymore, but it's the best one that has the non-retro over the shoulder perspective running levels (it also has retro sideview platform levels). Racing is great but it is a racing game, and Mania is purely old school style Sonic without the over the shoulder levels.

Back in 2011 I think the consensus was indeed that Generations was "the only good modern Sonic".

Greenlight was mostly good when it was 5 years of indie games denied access finally getting in but as time went on the average quality went down and tons of lovely games got in on a promise of giving every greenlight voter a free Steam key.

There was never a system in place that would have stayed good if it had been kept as is until today.

I've stared at more then a few of those adventure games in my library and always passed on them for something else, I have this assumption that those types of games are so nit picky and difficult that figuring out the puzzles organically is like torturing yourself.

I also played The Dig and while it was an amazing game holy crap how did they expect people to figure that stuff out in the pre-gamefaqs era?

Satinav is pretty forgiving in that regard. I never entirely finished it, but I got like 90% through the game and I only ever had to look something up once. It's better than those old 90s adventure in that regard by far, but it still depends a bit on your tolerance for obtuse logic and figuring things out by trial and error if nothing else helps.

On the one hand, fantastic values, on the other hand I hated missing flash sales and feeling FOMO whenever I couldn't refresh Steam for half a day. If part of the price of getting refunds as they are now was the death of flash sales, well I think I'm OK with that.

That's not what gaslighting means you hyperbolic dipshit.
The dumb sale mini games never kept me engaged, but I loved the flash sales in the middle of season sales. It made the whole sale fun and gave you a reason to check back in each day.

They could make something like this compatible with the new way they do new sales. If the sale lasts a week, just take every title that will be on sale and randomize them so that each title is only actively on sale for one day in that week so you have to keep checking in, but then put all titles back on sale during the last day so you'd be able to grab what you missed just like how old sales used to work.

That's basically how the flash sales worked, though, but people didn't realize/know/accept that and freaked out when they "missed" a flash sale by not refreshing Steam three times a day.

You cheated not only the game, but yourself.
But most of all, you cheated BABA

The best game no one in here plays: Frost! It's a game about surviving a trek through a frozen tundra, played out via cards. It's fascinating, beautiful, fun to play, and I wish more people would play it. The different leaders you can play as mix up the gameplay a lot and I got a lot of fun out of it.

Well you could go for the middle ground approach and make the flash sales last a whole day instead of 8 hours(you could even do discount batches according to a theme, like genre or something) and then make the encore where everything goes back on sale last a whole weekend. That way people check in regularly but you also have at least a full 72 hours to log in and get what you want.

It is a middle ground and it doesn't fully fix the problem people had with flash sales but it is a lot more manageable for everyone.

All of this discussion is sort of ignoring the fact that they probably just stopped doing flash sales and the other methods of massive discounts because it cut into Valve's percentage and people will buy it anyway for less discounts.
