NSW isn't making masks compulsory because that would interfere with people eating and drinking at pubs and restaurants. Given that two of our current clusters started at pubs and restaurants, maybe they shouldn't be open at the moment.

Sap is a fluid transported in xylem cells (vessel elements or tracheids) or phloem sieve tube elements of a plant. These cells transport water and nutrients throughout the plant. Sap is distinct from latex, resin, or cell sap; it is a separate substance, separately produced, and with different components and functions.[citation needed] Insect honeydew is called sap, particularly when it falls from trees, but is only the remains of eaten sap and other plant parts.[1]

My childhood friend's dad worked at SAP. He literally could not explain his job at any point in the 20+ years I knew him. It seems like he set his own hours and worked at his leisure, with a handsome salary. I suspect he had a full on bullshit job. I think maybe SAP is a good place to work.

yeah its been a few weeks since we had any rain, i was gonna mow sometime this week but i'm waiting until the big downpour due tomorrow rolls through i did this today with a degree of optimism I wish I could apply to any other aspect of my life except anticipating rain: the watertank runoff was eroding a gully down a hill and all kinds of crap I didn't want was growing in it so i'm trying my hand at redirecting it a little bit towards my finger lime and mugwort Jezza of OZPOS fucked around with this message at 09:29 on Jul 22, 2020 |

Any of those big IT systems like Siebel, SAP, Oracle Suite etc fuckin suck and it baffles my why anyone would be interested in specialising in it. That said, we've got a proper mainframe at work and i'm weirdly way more interested in learning how to drive that thing than learning cloud poo poo haha.

Isaac posted:But what is it Sap's most useful function (for a U.S. based defense services company) is that it keeps records forever and the business transactions can all be logged in it. We use it for accounting at all levels, inventory management, part quality notifications, employee time and attendence, expense reports, build records (through interaction with solumina), etc. It's just a huge business suite that is really only necessary if you're in government contracts. It even has (lovely) email!. E: for example, at the end of the month one team of like 10 runs a few a business warehouse transactions that pay all transactions due that month. No need for a team of 1000 procurement analysts to deal with all the customers and suppliers at the end of every month. E2: it's still an antiquated piece of poo poo where another site can perform any function better, but the record keeping is why it sticks around. Samuel L. Yeh we use it for purchasing, invoicing and for time sheet reporting for those of us on flex so it lets us track leave entitlements. Speaking of I'd best check my flex, I may be close to having hit my flex cap of 5 days and can use it to take some time off to

Because you can make bulk cash implementing them and they are big enough pieces of software that you can't learn it all, so you specialise in a specific area, learn it really well and then charge hundreds of bucks an hour to tell people/companies how to use it properly. I'm only new at this poo poo but the company charges $250 per hour for me to consult/implement.

I liked NetSuite as a tool compared to the previous system they were using (Visma Liinos 7) which was a clunky piece of poo poo running on Citrix. NetSuite was great, we could do purchasing, sales, inventory and invoicing and use it as a CRM, which was all we needed it to do. I was the Australian key user because everyone else in the office was either poo poo with computers or was being a boomer about it and refusing to accept the change even though it brought us from 6 different systems globally to a unified system which meant if I had something a customer in South Africa or Russia wanted, the local reps could check our stock and ask if we can spare it SAP on the other hand is clunky trash

My general experience is that any ERP is only as good as the money and time a company invests in it (which is really I guess a part of the ERP business model). Half-arse it from the start or try and shoehorn it in later and it's going to be a shitshow without a lot of time and money to integrate properly.
