Discendo Vox posted:Generally do stealth heists on the highest difficulty possible. There are rarely difficulty differences in stealth above the Mayhem difficulty. I'd add Election Day as a relatively popular stealth heist, primarily for Day 2. Day 1 can absolutely be cheesed 95% of the time, or you can go the long way (which is rather annoying). Day 2 is a lot of fun to stealth, however, and is one of the better stealth heists for a group because with a small amount of work up front, everyone can participate in a more meaningful way than some of the others.

It is never explained why the crew goes to an abandoned house in a forest, the same one in Rats, as a matter of fact, to cook meth. In the case of Rats, the crew went to the house to save Hector's meth operation from both the cops and the Mendozas and get information from the Cobras, but here, the crew goes to a deteriorating cabin in a forest with the threats of gangs and cops for the sole purpose of profiting off meth. Assuming that the crew is only cooking meth under these circumstances because they don't have a meth lab of their own, they could simply bag and secure the individual parts of the lab, seeing that it's simple enough that it has, at most, 12 parts. A possible explanation is that the crew goes to the house because of Bain's inaccurate instructions and the explosive consequences of putting in a wrong ingredient, but the former problem is rectified in Hotline Miami, as its meth lab has fully accurate instructions for cooking.

None of the characters can be seen using protective equipment of any kind when cooking is in progress. The minimum required safety gear is a gas-proof breathing mask with adequate filtration, like those integrated into the hazmat suits of the dead cooks. The crew's ballistic face masks has open eyeholes and ports at the nose for ease of breathing during use, which is not adequate.

Technically they aren't open eyeholes, since you can get glare if you look at lights. The masks are closed.

The deal can fail (entering loud part) in several ways and places:
This may not always result in a firefight, see below for more details The crew arrives at the trade in the back of the gang member's truck with no meth bags. A player fires an unsuppressed weapon. A player fires a suppressed weapon too close to a gang member. A gang member hears an explosion, like from C4 on a safe, explosive grenades, concussion grenades, rocket/grenade launchers. A player throws a smoke grenade too close to a gang member. A gang member hears the death scream of another who was killed by a player. A gang member notices a dead body. A gang member notices a burning gang member from incendiary grenade, molotov, or grenade launchers with incendiary rounds. A gang member notices a bodybag or a player trades a bodybag. A gang member sees a broken window, or hears one being broken. The Cobras double cross the group. The police ambush the group before the trade begins. A player steals back a bag of meth once it is traded. A player activates an ECM feedback. A player uses a loud saw. A player uses a silent saw too close to a gang member. A player places a drill on a safe (drilling at all will result in the mission going loud). A gang member notices a beeping C4 on a safe. There is currently a glitch in the game in which the Cobras will turn hostile after opening the safe.
A player shoots a suppressed weapon or throwing a silent throwable like shuriken, knives, etc. A player throws a fire bomb like incendiary grenades, molotov, or grenade launchers with incendiary rounds. A player places tripmines with the explosive sensor triggers a gang member's body. A player shoots an unsuppressed weapon, causes an explosion (C4 on a safe, explosive grenades, concussion grenades, rocket launchers, grenade launchers), throws a smoke grenade, breaks windows, activates an ECM feedback, or uses a loud saw when all Cobras are dead in a stealth part.

I've been playing a lot of payday 2 recently. Running on a vanilla install, no mods. I notice sometimes when I join pubbie games that one or more players will just have their name displayed as varying lengths of underscores ________________. It also feels like when I see this and manage to join, that the game just doesn't do an initial sync properly - like in a holdout, player positions will update accordingly, but I never receive any data about where the police are at, so I can't actually do anything to help. I tried sticking it out for a minute or so in one of these games, and eventually my client crashed. Is this because I'm joining modded servers without mods installed, or is this just a thing that can happen sometimes?

# ? Aug 17, 2020 19:20 |

underscores are unicode names that the game doesn't display properly - you're probably joining a lobby with some folks from japan, china, korea, russia, or whatever. the syncing issues are probably not related to mods; most mods are just UI mods and don't affect client/server functionality. it's possible, it's just unlikely. what's more likely is you're joining a server where the host is halfway across the planet and their internet's made of wood.
