This also cause property values and land prices to skyrocket almost overnight, to the point where it pushed out a lot of locals. It accelerated in the 60's when Pigeon Forge opened up a number of theme parks and tourist attractions. You don't have to like Dolly (I don't like her business practices either), but I think it's a little disingenuous to lay this all at her feet instead of Tennessee's terrible conservative governments that thinks paying living wages will cause them to burst into flames like a vampire in the sun. I don't think we disagree as I don't like her business practices either, I guess my point was more pedantic than anything. As much as I hate the effects it can have on people and their communities, I have a hard time blaming small towns that would have otherwise faced a slow decline into even worse poverty to decide to lean into their only profitable industry.

The factory jobs in the area were Newport, Dandridge, and Morristown and they went overseas in the mid 1990s to early 2000s.

Yeah, that too. It kinda irks me when people refer to Eastern Tennessee but neglect to mention that it comprises around a third of the state, so most people who had factory jobs commuted to those hubs anyway. But to get back on topic, looking at a bunch of '60's Italian guitar design is both stupid music poo poo and oddly beautiful at the same time. Particularly this Wandre Oval: Pickguard mounted bridge is certainly a choice.

I think the pickguard is actually part of the neck, which is aluminium. Dude was part of the Fluxus art movement, apparently. I love the craziness between the invention of the electric guitar and when everyone seems to have settled on what an electric guitar should look like.

Aluminum rod covered by plastic. I'm curious what that must have felt like to play.

On closer inspection, you're right, though it does look like those models have neck thru aluminium, with the pick guard screwed to that. Also, the electronics are on the back of the pick guard! I ended up trawling through FetishGuitar, which was fun.
