Yeah the trailer for the Arquette movie looks cool. I’m gonna guess a big part of it is going to be *that* match, should be a wild ride.

And I like poster dumps. That Tenet poster is pretty weak (especially after they changed the ident due to the bike shop with a really similar motif) but yeah I’m hyped for it too, when i eventually get to watch it at home anyway.

the director is a College Humor guy so this is probably leaning more towards the comedy/horror side of things, but Aya Cash is an astounding actress who deserves to be in more things so I'll be happy to watch this.

I'll never stop laughing at Wil taking a break from the biz to really dive deep into his craft, and finding no jobs when he came back at 20-someshit.

“The Conan Doyle Estate filed a lawsuit against Netflix over the film, claiming it violates copyright by depicting Sherlock Holmes as having emotions, an aspect of the character which they argue does not fall under the public domain as he was only described as having emotions in stories published between 1923 to 1927, and the copyright for the stories published in that period still belong to the estate.”

Why would they not? Everyone knows everyone else. If you were making a movie, would you pick the unknown who could be a prima donna when you could pick someone you know won't cause any on-set friction?

That was a different situation. In the Golden Age actors weren't freelancers contracted for individual movies, they were employees of the studio.

Important to note that Doyle doesn't have any living issue. This is just some extended family trying to coast on his name and make themselves such a nuisance, that companies will pay them a small sum out of court to make them go away. Same principle as patent and trademark trolls.

The only Sherlock Holmes book not fully in the public domain is the last one, and nobody cares because it was mostly poo poo.
