The Colonel posted:it's funny to me that one of the defining differences between the 2003 kino's journey anime and the 2017 one is that the colosseum arc in the 2003 anime is largely focused on kino's relationship with the people they fight against and the growing tensions of it, and the 2017 one just has like a five minute scene of kino doing gun stuff and then they shoot the guy and it immediately ends there was also that ep about the country where murder was legal and it was basically a demented fantasy where everyone got to justifiably murder one rear end in a top hat who was acting out and attacking kino

I think that was the last ep of Alicization? IDk it was pretty friggin dope. SAO does its best to suck rear end but that was still incredibly doppe. I love the like real world, traumatized kid helping develop crazy tech. Also I like Alice being all grrr knight/ But most imprtantly Eugeo. eugeo was the best thing to happen in Alice, and etc, etc, etc, etc, I etc, I guess there is more going to be made eventually whatever. I really don't like this show but at the same time I really like this show? ??

Holy poo poo, I was curious how bad that nationalist manga was so I checked it out. Its incredibly vile (no loving surprise). It implies that people who disagree that the Korean woman who were raped were just prostitutes are the actual rapist themselves. It also implies that Jews control the media. This is all in the first chapter. VVV Edit, Yes like I said its no loving surprise how terrible it is, but its really goddamn terrible. As someone who is part of a minority group that the KKK targets, I want to know about my enemy. I was just curious if it was sneaking some anti-korean propaganda out of nowhere into a relatively normal manga or if the entire thing was completely terrible.

manga has editors and the author of my hero academia, one of the most popular manga in the world, had to go on an apology tour and change a character's name for a mild allusion to warcrimes against koreans. like not even denying they happened or even it being brought up in the text, just an evil doctor being named 'maruta' when maruta was the euphemism the japanese used for the people they did human experimentation on. he might not have even intended the connotation since the term has other meanings. it still had to be changed and he still had to apologize. its not like mainstream or popular stuff can't have an author that suddenly goes into tangents on their politics one way or another but it would never be anywhere near that blatant. stuff that blatant would only ever run in extreme rightwing magazines. For instance, the magazine that runs in is Japanism, a rag that publishes comfort women denialism essays, general rightwing punditry, and occasional propaganda manga. It was started by a former sports broadcaster who got fired in 2002 when he went on a racist tirade after living in Korea for a little bit to cover a Japan vs South Korea soccer tournament. Another person who has contributed to it is Mio Sugita, a rightwing politician who was one of the people involved in the Right-wing spin machine against a woman who accused a friend of Shinzo Abe's of rape. Another one of the fine contributors to Japanism is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SIs-CIj-A0 this guy, who got so mad at a comfort woman statue in Taiwan that he started kicking the poo poo out of it unprompted. So, yeah. This is not a mainstream manga and it not a sudden sharp turn. It is the manga equivalent of a youtube channel 25k subs and a rational knight templar avatar, and it is doing exactly what you'd expect. And it's not the only show trafficking in mild climate denialism in the mid-00's for entertainment, South Park had a freaking industry from it.
