If you've been there less than 2 years you're hosed (thanks lib dems!) and basically at the mercy of what the company want to give you and possibly only 1 weeks notice.
If more than 2 years expect a weeks notice for every year over 2 years you were employed and..

" half a week’s pay for each full year you were under 22

one week’s pay for each full year you were 22 or older, but under 41

one and half week’s pay for each full year you were 41 or older"

This is all capped at 20 years.

If they offer you a different role (regardless of how suitable it is) and you choose not to take it, you don't get redundancy.

Be proactive, get your affairs in order and start job hunting now.

We don't have a central government we just say we do

We've got a lot of decentralised organisations with no codified network or relationships to eachother that work fine as long as they don't have to respond to any external stimulus

Cabinet can throw money around but the tendering process only allows inbred cousins, doners and the same five incompetent megacorporations to bid.

So it's week 3 of teaching back at school. The average attendance on week 1 started at 100% and on week 3 has dropped to 75% already.

I've also done my first hybrid live lesson and streaming online to a couple of pupils stuck at home. That was actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but those were really nice kids. Looking forward to doing the streaming with a whole class at this rate.

No, that would actually be a valid reason to decline and keep redundancy.
A few others are increase to travel time, cost and disruption to family life. However these are just ones that will usually fall in your favor, the company can say no to any of them and drag the process to tribunal if they want to.

At my husbands school they've got 30% of the kids off. There's so many staff off at the moment that they don't think they'll be open by the end of the week. It's just not sustainable at all.

Government poo poo at trans rights as expected.

quote:

The Sunday Times published a story yesterday about the leaked contents of the long-overdue government announcement regarding reform of the Gender Recognition Act (2004). IF the report is correct, the government's decision on this could best be described as pathetic.

In 2017, then-prime minister Theresa May suggested reforming the GRA after a government report found that only around 5,000 people from the UK’s trans population of approximately half a million people had used the law to change their legal gender. Despite gender dysphoria no longer being classed as a mental illness by the World Health Organisation, a diagnosis of gender dysphoria by two psychiatrists is still required as part of the requirements to gain a Gender Recognition Certificate. A 2-year consultation was conducted which turned toxic as it was hijacked by anti-trans campaigners who changed the dialogue onto the issues of trans women using female-only spaces, and of access to treatment for trans children, even though neither of these fall within the scope of the GRA. The findings of the consultation have been witheld by the government for over a year, but an announcement is due imminently. During this time, transphobic hate crime has increased dramatically.

A leaked report in the Sunday Times in June stated that Minister for Women and Equalities Liz Truss was due to announce a restriction of access to gender services for trans children and also restrictions to female-only spaces for trans women, even though 70% of those consulted were reported to be supportive of make it easier for trans people to gain a GRC.

However, following a series of protests by trans people and allies as well as the British medical Association stating their support for self-identification of gender for trans people and a mass show of support for trans people by the corporate sector (see https://www.transrightsarehumanrights.co.uk/ ), Liz truss made a statement to say that access to gender services for trans children will be unaffected by any reforms to the GRA. The only reform mentioned in yesterdays' report in the Sunday Times was that the £140 GRC application fee would be lowered. It is not known how accurate this report it is, but if that is the government's conclusion to 3 very damaging years for trans people, frankly, it's a pathetic response and trans people have suffered so much abuse for pretty much nothing.

Of course, Liz Truss' announcement has yet to be made, so until it is, this is all just speculation. There is still everything to play for and the fight goes on!

In fairness to him, (the clip is only 24 seconds so it's hard to judge) if you take his words in context, the very next thing he says is about meeting with Trans spokespeople to listen to their concerns.
That seems to indicate that he mispoke in a mild way. (The word was a double negative after all.)

Yes, we're looking to do a few campaigns like this a year now (I think we've also got something on nursing coming up down the pipe). If anyone wants to get involved with the housing campaign, they can do so here. Evictions are beginning today, so it's going to get pretty bad.
