I don't think anyone who isn't a crazy person would include the passage "& cited Jacobson (forced vaccination case)" in that tweet.

Should I be scared if Biden only does slightly better than Trump? I'm hearing it's a massive mess.

It's like a Jerry Springer show and who knows how it will shake out. Probably won't change much but.... could go either way given the stupidity of the US electorate. Joe comes off better in my estimation, he's not loving anything up other than the occasional stutter and Trump is not at all pivoting from his usual stoke-the-base poo poo.

If "no one won" or "they both looked bad" is the common takeaway, then Biden actually won.

Prediction: the pro-Trump polls (Trafalgar, Rasmussen, etc.) that have been showing strong Biden results are going to snap back to Trump +5 in battleground states over the next week, trying to jumpstart a huge Trump comeback narrative.

Grouchio posted:I swear 75% of those goons in there were nojoes pissed off that Biden wasn't supermaning against Trump, instead of desperately fighting off his stuttering and interruptions like he was. Yeah during the debate Biden came across as a centrist dem with all the dumb poo poo that implies, while Trump came across as that guy you try really hard to avoid making eye contact while taking public transportation. Which means I feel like most news agencies are going to report this as a "Biden Win" if they feel like they have to declare a winner.

Yeah I would say the few undecideds left will hate this poo poo and slightly tip Biden. They're undecideds though, so I bet they mostly won't vote.

The play here from the Trump campaign is trying to make the environment so toxic for Biden that he says he doesn't want to debate a 2nd time and hope to hammer that for 6 weeks. Biden did fine, which is all he needs to do and because the Trump campaign tried to make Biden look so bad before the debate that they shot themselves in the foot.

Nah they'll just prep differently for the tactic, since Trump will just do literally the same thing. Especially if it turns into a bad news cycle for Trump.

Fritz Coldcockin posted:There's no way in hell Biden refuses to debate a second time; Trump backs down first in EVERY universe. Especially since Trump basically went in and alpha-striked with his ult right off the bat before waiting for his support. The fact is since Trump went in so hard that he basically has no surprises. He went down the checklist of everything both the chuddiest chuds and the terminally online twitter left have been hammering Biden and the Democrats on; he went after every possible wedge issue that's been presented to him over the past four years; and all he can do is just repeat himself and do the same thing at debate #2. And then he turned around and reinforced that he wanted to send troops to break up the protests and leaned in on white supremacist rhetoric while also dissing Philie, he's for sure lost ground.

https://twitter.com/reidepstein/status/1311142955592421377?s=20 This is basically my impression - which maybe means I should be more suspicious of it, but hey. If I have one plausible concern it's that I can kind of imagine a scenario where the ugliness of the whole affair drives Biden's favorables down a bit and turns things into a bit more of a 2016-esque mudfight, but that feels like a bit of a reach. We'll see.

That's not a win for ol' Trumper, sorry to say. I think in a day or two the consensus will be that this was a clear Biden win. Biden was not particular inspiring, but he was lucid and got like three decent lines in, but compared to Trump...

A take I agreed with on like David Weigel's feed or somewhere is that it's pretty clear what lines from this debate will be used to attack Trump, whereas it really isn't the same way for Biden. To the limited extent that these things matter, that probably works out in Biden's favor, being in a clear lead and all.
