BIG OVER
College Slice
It’s stuff for Gate of Destiny, at Edion 1 Osaka. They like having outsiders that either their “out-of-the-bubble” fans have either heard of (why they’d book Fujiwara at age 130), or can sell tickets (definitely why Bodyguard is here). He’s not sticking around.

Always get minorly annoyed when Stardom do that. I just want to hit play on a video and stream it to my TV in another room & leave it at that. Boooooooo for making me have to stand up once ever 15-20 minutes

Currently working my way through the card after catching up with the G1. First two block matches were real fun, and it was cool to see Kotoge and Harada teaming again until the ending and post match brawl. Taniguchi has really been impressing me this tournament, so hopefully Marufuji doesn't bring that weird energy from the Sugiura match

It is sort of amusing to me that a small digital print shop in Chicago managed in 7 years to become a permanent part of the wrestling infrastructure just by doing business with Colt Cabana and his friends.

I'm glad they have noticed their international fanbase but at the same time it'd have been nice if they could have thought of us before the quality of the promotion took a nosedive. Ach well.

Stardom PPV looks loaded. Looking forward to seeing Chris Brookes get to tag with Jun Akiyama, & the final block show for the N1 looks a banger with a few guys still alive. Kento & Zeus have had good matches in the past so hope that'll be good even if the rest of the card looks very much an after thought. Fujita & Rin vs Kasai & Takeda should be real fun death match action

Corgis love bread. And Puro

I've already set my alarm for 3:15am for that NOAH card. Go vs Kaito will rule, Kenoh vs Sugi will rule, Marufuji vs Nak, Mochi vs Masa & Soya vs Saku should all be fun, the junior rumble seems like it'll be riotous. Even the opener which is clearly the weakest match of the show could still be at a decent level.

I think I'm leaning towards Nakajima winning Block B & Kiyomiya winning Block A, which will obviously be a great final. They should save Go vs Nak for the Yokohama Budokan show on November 22nd so Shiozaki almost has to lose here. Have Kenoh & Katsuhiko both win their final matches & then Nakajima goes over his stable "leader" on the tie-breaker of having beaten Kenoh. In A Block, Mochizuki loses in an upset to Kitamiya (I don't need Masa Kitamiya going to a draw) & that means all the marbles are in play for that final match between Go & Kaito, a rematch of that absolutely phenomenal match they had together back on January 4th (enjoyed it more than Okada vs Ibushi from the same day)

Such a well booked tournament, coming down to a fantastic show to finish off the Block matches. I'm excited.

First couple of N1 matches were nice, quick & breezy, which is what you want for matches where the guys are already eliminated. Finish on Soya Saku was fun.

I'm assuming she means the way NOAH handled the elevation of Rikio, Morishima, Marufuji etc in the mid 2000s when it was clear Misawa,' Kobashi, Akiyama, Taue were all breaking down rapidly. Say what you will about Rikio obviously not being the ace, they sabotaged his GHC HW reign. It couldn't have been handled much worse, they weren't treated as on a level with the older guys until it was too late.

Talking about Hisame, she's on WH Park's excellent Long & Winding Royal Road podcast this month. Normally it has been deep diving into a match from 90s All Japan (ie last episode was on the Jumbo vs Misawa classic from 8/6/90) but this is more a biography of Misawa going from his childhood through him getting into the Dojo, going on excursion, being Tiger Mask, Super Generation Army, etc. Well worth a listen imo, it's in the Post Wrestling podcast feed, whole series has been fun

In other news, I believe Ashino and Arashi just challenged Violent Giants for the AJPW Tag titles and Arashi has a great large boy top rope senton, and big fellas top rope sentons always slap.

Far be it for me to recklessly speculate about a topic as grave and serious as this, but I think YAMATO might be beginning to bald. His current hairstyle is... not good and feels like something that people who are starting to bald but haven't accepted it yet try.

Also, DG must be REALLY high on Dragon Dia to give him his own Darkness Dragon. Wonder who it is under the mask?

I saw twitter rumors its Shun Skywalker

it's not

60% it's yuki yoshioka. doesn't fit shun's body type at all (he got jacked in mexico, inferno was with a spare tire in a dry fit. yoshioka isn't THAT much shorter). they wanted yoshioka to disappear for a bit. this has been a bit. if it's not yoshioka, it's a new debut, they have guys they want to be big about their debut.

Corgis love bread. And Puro

Missed this earlier but All Japan have put out the teams for this year's Real World Tag League & the field looks potentially fun

Violent Giants (Shuji Ishikawa & Suwama)
Purple Haze (Zeus & Shigehiro Irie)
JIN (Jake Lee & Koji Iwamoto)
Enfants Terribles (Shotaro Ashino & Kuma Arashi)
Yoshitatsu & Ryoji Sai
Tajiri & Masato Tanaka
Daisuke Sekimoto & Abdullah Kobayashi
Kento Miyahara & Yuma Aoyagi

Tajiri & Masato Tanaka as an unofficial Team ECW is fun. I think it kinda sucks they don't have Ayato Yoshida teaming with Jake Lee but gently caress knows what's going on there. Haven't seen Yoshida in All Japan since the very first show back they did with a crowd.

pretty fucking embarrassing to watch
Yoshida is 2AW Champion at the moment and that means that he won't be losing a lot of matches so I suspect they've elected to just not book him at all rather than having to try and book around that. Unless Lee/Yoshida would win the tournament you'd have to have Lee lose a lot of matches and they probably don't want that. I also wonder if Nomura is near coming back and only just missed this tour: and in that situation its easier to plug Iwamoto into that slot than an outsider.

The name of the Tanaka/Tajiri team is actually "Team ECW" although I don't know whether that's something they got permission to use.

All due respect to 2AW, it's a fun wee promotion but I don't think they lose much if Yoshida gets pinned by Kento or Zeus

Well, the show is starting with some ceremony or something for Naoki Sano. I'll be honest, until he came out I wasn't sure if he was dead or not but apparently it's a "farewell" society, because he doesn't want to call it a retirement. He was on the Jan 4th New Japan show in the Jushin Liger retirement match as he was an early rival of Liger, before going to UWF-I & eventually NOAH.

The main thing is the finals of the N-1 Victory tournament, which is basically just the G1. Kaito Kiyomiya is the future of the company, the next ace of NOAH, he's 23 & already had 1 reign with the GHC HW title, which current champ Go Shiozaki beat him for in January. Katsuhiko Nakajima has just recently turned heel on his tag partner Go Shiozaki & he kicks real loving hard. That's really all you need to know about that one. Winner gets a title match against Go Shiozaki at the big November show in Yokohama IIRC

Other than that, M Alliance is a group of old dudes whose names all start with M. Naomichi Marufuji is one of the standouts of his generation, the arch-rival of KENTA throughout the 2000s, Keiji Muto is otherwise known as The Great Muta, Masaaki Mochizuki has a strong case for being the best wrestler in the world over 50, & Masakatsu Funaki is a guy who started in New Japan & ended up creating one of the first proto-MMA promotions with Minoru Suzuki, Pancrase, back in 1993. (Pancrase's first show was about a month before the first UFC) Their opponents are an odd team, Shiozaki & Taniguchi are NOAH born guys, Yone was originally from Battlarts but has been in NOAH for nearly 20 years. Inaba is a guy who just joined NOAH after Wrestle-1 collapsed.

The Junior division is a big mess in NOAH, in a really fun way. It's full of dudes who are weird & overlooked by other companies, but I'll be honest, I have a lot of love of it, it's full of characters. Kotaro Suzuki is a member of Stinger, he's been Jr champ since April, beating stablemate Yoshinari Ogawa. Haoh is a guy who has been around the Japanese indies for 15 years, he's a member of Kongo (the coolest stable in NOAH) & has been mostly a tag wrestler with Nioh since joining NOAH last year. Genuinely cannot remember why he's gotten a title match.

Junior Tag Title Match is Stinger (Ogawa & HAYATA) vs Momo No Seishun (Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada). Harade & Kotoge just reunited on a recent show but had been together from 2007 until 2016 as a team (& only broke up at Kotoge was trying to be a Heavyweight). Harada's previous stable RATELs had slowly broken up when HAYATA turned on them to join Stinger, then Tadasuke turned to join Kongo, until it was just YO-HEY & Harada. And then finally YO-HEY tuned on Harada, Kotoge ran out to save him, Kotoges Full Throttle teammates attacked him & kicked him out of the group, replacing him with YO-HEY. I think Junta Miyawaki also joined with Kotoge & Harada. On top of that, Ogawa & Harada have been rivals to be the top Junior in NOAH for most of the last year.

The other big thing is Sugiura-gun & Kongo have been main rivals for a year now but the show's already started so I'll stop there.
