So in other news... Time for an update from my Secondary schools plans for Covid. Currently we have each year group separate with each teacher basically teaching subjects outside of their specialism. So I'm with Year 11 and 10 cause I'm head of department and they think I'm decent. However with half term next week, we've been all told they are scrapping the teacher bubbles and we will now go back to teaching all year groups in our own subjects. I can see why they are making changes (I've had a couple of staff crying in my classroom as they just can't cope), but just before half term is quite the :

God they were a pair of tedious twats. I remember Michael Payne, the twat who while head of the Lancaster University student union tried to defund the student radio station because one of its shows were saying mean things about him. they've made it pretty clear that this is the situation for the whole country, no help, just deal with it. they aren't gonna help anyone because the state ideology is that helping people is immoral and people will get addicted to it and become degenerate the 22 million will be going to someones nephew by tender anyway then the collapse of society means more wealth for the wealthy and more insane laws to pass without scrutiny

They're clearly playing hardball with this "negotiation" because they know the entire country is going to be blanketed with local lockdowns (it's NOT a national lockdown, it's NOT) within a few weeks.

They were presumably emboldened by Sadiq Khan meekly rolling over on the TfL bailout (and them mostly successfully spinning the deliberately destructive conditions attached to it as his fault), and thought they could do the same thing to Manchester. I'd like to see Burnham (and the rest of Labour and anyone with a soul) making a lot more of the naked pork barreling going on with Tory constituencies getting massively more funds per-capita than Labour ones, but presumably Sir Haircut doesn't want to rock the boat too much and so will abstain when the Tories rush through legislation to send the Army in to Manchester.

Nothing is impossible, but an actual full blown civil war is extremely unlikely. I would be interested to see the response if Scotland held an unsanctioned referendum, independence won out, and they went the UDI route. Would Westminster just roll over? I doubt it. What would they do? Catalonia style crackdowns? That would be an awful move in the long-term, and would 100% cause riots, not to mention there are plenty of independence-sympathetic squaddies in the Scottish regiments. Negotiated further devolution or some other compromise? I doubt the government has the political skill to pull it off. We're not going to end up with trenches along the border, but there's definitely the potential for some unrest there, and if the Tories insisted on fanning the flames it could blow up in their stupid face.
