It came out as a consequence of BLM protests, interestingly enough.

Yeah and it's clear that electoralism isn't the winner in Bolivia, it's a vote after incredible pressure martialed by leftwing institutions and political groups backed by a good chunk of the working population to make sure that any attempt to steal the election would lead to a complete shutdown of Bolivian industry.

Anyone who wants to replicate that resiliency elsewhere better get used to the idea that you have to figure out how to organize a general strike.

So we need to either target the NLRB and corresponding agencies in other nations or just prepare to break labor law.

I don't think big unions will go along with either of those and I don't know how you organize a large strike without them onboard.

the big unions are mostly compromised by capital and have been for decades at this point

they won't go along with anything that might lead to revolutionary change - at best they will allow for relief-valve type actions, but even that's a big lift

they are part of the problem and should be dealt with as such

"hurr durr people who disagree with me get their news on Twitter pre-digested and shitted out in 280 character snippets from accounts like @pineapplecumsundae, unlike me, who is very wise"

I say as I elevate rumors from interviews with conservative activists using language like "A fairly decent BBC breakdown confirms that my source's story is, at least, commonly believed among protesters in Bolivia" despite acknowledging the complete lack of evidence

That's my Robert Evans impression

Thankfully yes. Or there’d be no election. Just mass graves with about fifty thousand Bolivian MAS supporters.

Seamus is normally alright with his takes, and I thought most people here would understand the context. I was going to say that we're going to hear more takes like "Listen to Bolivians (but only the ones that live in the US)" after that result

also the reactionaries seem like they're getting ready to fight.

the first couple of days after the coup there were huge crowds of MAS supporters running through the streets literally chanting 'civil war now' over and over, and the only reason one didn't break out is because the party leadership convinced everyone to try the peaceful route first

my guess is since they just utterly hosed themselves in the elections they try and get the more right wing and reactionary white lowlands around santa cruz to secede or something. also happens to be where most of the natural gas is...

the election map is pretty much MAS dominant though so lol.

A MAS vs. Military shootout over secession is going to end up real ugly for everyone involved, and it will scare off the milquetoast middle-class that would rather live in a socialist government (and bitch about it incessantly) than Neo Libya

I could totally see Trump/Biden paying off the military to do it anyways, set an example
