Just want to emphasis what an enormous victory this was (in Q). MJK collapsed in the visitors' yard of Hakea prison in March 2013 and did not regain consciousness after being taken to Fremantle hospital. He suffered from heart disease, high cholesterol, asthma and diabetes. He was also a long-term smoker and did not regularly take his medication. He had been in jail for 27 years and 4 months when he died, and had been moved 19 times within the prison system. His family raised concerns that the system had lost track of his medication needs when he moved, however the coroner did not find evidence to support that.

Re-watched Pacific Rim last night and came to the conclusion that in the timeline of the film AU has clearly been governed by a multi-decade succession of Labor federal governments because there's no way in hell a Liberal government would call a Jaeger "Striker Eureka." A Liberal government Jaeger probably would have been named "JOBS & GROWTH" or "Boat Stoppa." Also the Ruby Princess makes an appearance in the second film:

Homora Gaykemi posted:Labor would name the giant robot like Sensible Coal and Gas or some poo poo, not after actual industrial action Yeah I didn't say it's what they would name it, rather that the name is unimaginable under a Liberal government. I recall from recent history that the ABCC tried to actually ban the Eureka flag from construction sites: https://vic.cfmeu.org/news/nothing-has-changed-abcc-eureka-flag-banned-construction-sites Maybe the Pacific Rim canon is a quarter-century of Greens majority rule?

hambeet posted:do you have any hambeet in you? Jayden Bennell was found hanged in an unlocked cleaning supply storeroom opposite his cell at 3.44pm on 6 March. An Aboriginal support worker raised the alarm that he was missing at 1.30pm, but guards did not search for him until he missed the 3.15pm muster. The support worker was also not interviewed about JSB’s death until February 2016. The coroner said JSB received “inadequate” mental healthcare, criticised the seven-month gap in scheduling psychiatrist appointments, and said prisons should take a more holistic approach to mental healthcare. The storeroom was not locked until a week before the inquest began. ISSUES RAISED Medical care required but not all given, procedures not all followed, mental health / cognitive impairment.
