Dude Anthony literally told Fredrick Douglas to not go on a stage with her and other white suffragettes, despite him being a founding member of their group with her, because it would 'look inappropriate' and opposed the 15th amendment before then trying to sell women's suffrage on the idea that white women's votes would drown out black men. She wasn't some fuckin klan member but she was absolutely one of the faction that treated 'suffrage for white women and black women' as two different goals with two different priority rankings.

Texas coming down to a few thousand votes is actually plausible today. Republican suppression leading to a 380+ Biden blowout will be the greatest laugh possible in this election.

Plus, if Florida is anything like AZ (which I assume it is), the older crowd that would be heavily Republican, seem to vote right away early in the morning, while a lot of those who'd vote Democrat and didn't do early voting, will probably vote in the afternoon/early evening once off of work.
Broward is one of a handful of counties here that actually matter for Democratic votes.

South Florida, including Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm: Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties
Tampa area: Hillsborough, Pinellas county
Jacksonville: Duval county
Orlando: Orange county

If you see a big blue dot in north central FL, that's Alachua county, which gets a honorable mention (it's where UF is located).

Doesn't need to be signs. I didn't find the actually law, but a quick google search shows several reputable sources that all include Ohio as one of the states where it is illegal to share a picture of a filled in ballot.

https://www.cleveland.com/metro/201...er_selfies.html

Doesn't seem like there is any appetite to enforce it, and the law itself is really vague and poorly worded. So, just go ahead an privately enjoy your act of civil disobedience.

edit:

Found it:

https://codes.ohio.gov/orc/3599.20v1

You aren't supposed to show a marked ballot indicating how you are going to vote. So that includes sharing a ballot selfie.

Over here in Flanders (Herent) I had to help organize a polling station for the municipal elections of 2018, we obviously had to set up the machines before voting started, and the procedure involved a few test votes to make sure everything worked correctly.

75% of the reason you go to Five Guys is for cajun fries.

Shake Shack is probably the best on burgers alone. I have recently become an In-n-Out convert though. When I first went to an In-n-Out in Arizona, it was complete garbage and I had no idea how people could ever compare it to Shake Shack, but then I tried a location in LA, and it was fantastic. Embarrassingly poor fries - but great burgers.

I don't think you understand. Over 90% of US States mandate a paper ballot that then gets inserted into and counted by a machine and saved in case you need a recount. It's not punching keys on an election machine.

This varies county to county. In Amherst County (rural county in VA) I voted on a touchscreen machine. Even let me "write in" Mickey Mouse with my finger for the races that just had a Republican running unopposed. In Richmond I vote on paper and it gets counted by machine.

Over here I press some buttons on a touchscreen, a piece of paper with the results comes out, and then that piece of paper also gets scanned and saved separately.

This subject came up a while ago, and I remember being surprised that there were apparently so many Western countries where electronic voting isn't widespread. My first election was in 2009, it was already electronic, I never gave it much thought.

Electronic voting is totally fine and a lot more convenient/faster to count as long as you have machines that actually, you know, work. Seems like something you should test beforehand

It is bizzare to me from a security perspective to have ballots that are 1. electronic and 2. secret.

Most electronic voting procedures involve a physical component in case something goes wrong and a recount is needed, as explained by Murgos and myself.

To be honest, I don't think it even makes a difference in that regard, if your democratic culture is so weak that the people in charge are in a position and willing to tamper with the results on a massive scale (without fearing a backlash), then it was going to happen regardless of voting method. I don't think Putin will stop winning elections if Russia suddenly switched away from whatever it is they mostly do now.

Counting a ballot box takes literally an hour or two, I did it this year as an election official. It's also witnessed by scrutineers from each party so it's impossible to throw and there's an unbroken chain of ownership on the ballots

Simple = good in this case and it makes it way easier to have polling stations everywhere.

As a massive IT nerd I know this can absolutely be done. I just have zero confidence that a million+ local governments can pull it off without a strong central authority coming in and doing it in a sensible, non partisan, and not done by the lowest bidder way. And even then I have my doubts.
