Leftism is struggling in Massachusetts, let alone swing districts.

It is indeed completely meaningless conjecture to divorce policy from the people promoting said policy. In a vacuum, people might support X or Y because the issue hasn't been viciously polarised/politicised yet. If people can have learned loving anything from these last 4 years, what you say is completely subjugated to who says it in America. If Trump proposed any highly progressive policy, suddenly it's Republican praxis and always has been. If Biden says it, suddenly it's anathema. For tens of millions of people, it really is that simple.

He needs to start putting people in handcuffs until there are no ballots in any post office at the end of each day. Every state party in a state that wouldn't normally count day after ballots needs to join this action and sue that they need to be allowed to count those votes.

Dr Pepper posted:You take to the streets and start burning things down. Voting is useless, direct action gets the goods. We have all been doing direct action for basically the whole year, what goods have we got? Police are still garbage, nothing has been done to reign them in, all that has happened in people getting shot and killed. There's a human cost to doing this, and its worth it if something happens, and we shouldn't stop now, but direct action can't pass laws or change government institutions, it can only influence voters and politicians, so if the voters don't show up and the politicians are unmoved then what is the mechanism for change here? You need both, and I was hopeful we had both, but unless Georgia flips we didn't get what we needed to and the only thing we can hope for is incremental change at the local and state level to somehow trickle up to the federal level

I think the issue there is that 'tell it like it is' isn't actually telling the truth but being an rear end in a top hat. People don't like Trump because he's truthful, they like him because he says horrible things that they like the sound of. It's a lot harder for a progressive to do that because "This is a fundamentally racist country and we need to defund the police and acknowledge our mistakes" sounds a lot worse than "We RULE and are AWESOME and it's those OTHER GUYS WHO MAKE EVERYTHING BAD." Sanders is the closest but "difficult to land attacks on" isn't true for him in a country where the word socialist is more unpopular than socialist policies.
