Approval numbers don't necessarily have likely voter filters like election polling does. If you don't have those filters in place then you can do a sample of the country and get a pretty accurate approval number. The real tricky part is getting the correct filters to exclude people from a sample when you're trying to get likely voters.

One of the biggest criticisms of Clinton is that she didn't focus enough on working class whites. So this time they decided to run a guy who focused heavily on working class whites!
