ImpAtom posted:Multiple of the people behaving this way have stated they are more interested in seeing liberals upset than anything else and also define liberal as 'anyone who isn't agreeing with me.' I'm by no means a Biden fan, and I even understand and partially agree with the argument that things could very easily end up as bad in the end, but even with that knowledge I can recognize there is plenty to celebrate in the short term with Trump being out on his rear end. In fact, in a future with lots of terrible things looming on the horizon, it's even MORE important to be able to find joy in small victories, if for nothing else than your own mental health.

A chance at taking power from the fascists in 2022 and 2024 is better than guaranteeing their victory at those dates. There is more time after 2022 than there is between 2020-2022, that's a pretty unavoidable mathematical fact. Acceleration is a fake concept. We already had a pandemic and an economic crisis like we've never seen before in this country and nobody did poo poo. Millions of people live in slums in India and they don't rebel. Neither will you.

Trump himself said that he's more socialist even than Bernie, multiple times. It worked on Biden in Florida despite him being the most conservative Democrat who ran for President, but worked less well elsewhere. If you have a candidate who embraces the label, you are going to lose in a lot more places. Sure the average American couldn't even tell you what socialism is, but they are certain its bad.
