In the modern era, yeah. Back in 1877, Rutherford Hayes was literally going to the inauguration in March without knowing if he was president-elect yet.

Question, because I don't understand the electoral system very well, rewinding to before any results came in, was "Senate Blue, but Trump President" a realistic possibility? I'm under the impression that the way stuff would shake out, it would be way more likely to have gotten "Senate Blue + Biden."

I've seen similar arguements elsewhere. What I want to know is Republican turnout actually up or is this a there's just more people of voting age thing?

Biden and rep senate was the most likely outcome.

Dem senate if dem wave, or rep weak turnout. Possible outcome but polling was off.

Trump presidency and rep senate if very weak dem turnout. Most unlikely.

Dem senate and Trump presidency basically 0 odds. Weird outcome.

Very unlikely given Trump's popularity. Anyone R coming out to vote for their senators were voting for him as well.

I really should have come up with something better before spending five bucks on this.

GOP strongholds made it easier for Republicans to vote.

Democratic strongholds made it easy for everyone to vote.

ergo, Republicans have it easy no matter what, and Democrats don't. This isn't rocket science.

It was the highest percentage of registered voters that voted since the total voting population doubled when women gained the right to vote. So yeah, turnout was high on both sides.

Yet where is that woman now? Tell me, in what heave does she reside? None of them. Because no God bothered to listen or care. If that is what you think it means to be a God, then you and all your teachings are welcome to do as that poor women did. And vanish from these realms forever.
The sad part is that this is so protracted that the high of victory is wearing off and the realization that this is a return to the gridlock of 2012 is sinking in before the victory is even announced!

Yeah. Democracy is building a system where everyone can vote, even dumb people, and institutions exist to mitigate the stupidity. Not restricting voting to who we say is a valid person

A lot of people love trump.

They love the dancing racist man, they love him a whole hell of a loving lot.

They might legit have a problem by letting him become the mascot of their party.

Everyone knows what happens to a show when everyone's favorite character leaves.

That stupid Avengers edit makes it clear the democrats have a real cast of characters to keep people engaged with the party.

Yeah, he's definitely made America safe for racists again. If there was any sliver of a ghost of a defense I would make for a tiny fraction of Trump supporters, it's that he is a convicted con-man and some just might have been flim-flamed by a very stable grifter. That is, if you feel like being generous. I say this in the desperate hope that some will see with The Leader finally absent that they were duped and may try to casually slip into the Biden supporting camp and pretend that they had been there the whole time.

This was discussed in the 2006 Documentary "Idiocracy" after hundreds of years of the high school quarterbacks marrying the head cheerleaders and having lots of kids that populated the country.
