One weird legal trick to reversing elections!quote:I posted this on two other threads; this will be last, I promise. If there are any legal minds out there who’d like to say why this will not work, it will be great to know/learn. I keep hearing people say this but it makes no sense. quote:Trump won in 2020 in a close election, like in 2016. In 2024 it will be a landslide, too large to overcome by fraud. Fraud is only useful in close elections. A lot of people saying they'd love to have a viable third party that they'd totally support, until election day rolled around and they went "But if I vote for the third party the DEMONRAT will win!" and just vote straight ticket GOP. quote:I would love to be a member of an Independent conservative constitutional Party. All the rinos and the dems know the score. Keep the lazy ignorant voters happy with feel good promises....and procure, finagle, or steal whatever you can get from the vovernment and its associations until your term is up. quote:I wish Donald Trump would start a new political party called the “America First” party. Our goals are in the title: “America First”, and every other political party would have to stand for something other than America First. No RINOS allowed. Run against them in the election and replace the Republicans in Congress completely after 6 years. If Trump took the helm and campaigned for candidates, we could have true conservatives in Washington, without be patronized by RINOS every election. Only then, would we have a true CHOICE. Hey, someone on Freep with half a brain. quote:How about the people who have risked their lives coming forward as witnesses and signing affidavits? Or does that no longer matter??? "Our voter fraud would be good." quote:With all the theft and fraud democrats exhibited this election, it would be smart for Republicans to do likewise. How many counties in America went to Trump? What if Republicans decided to manufacture "mailed" ballots? But then they held them back until after the tallies from the corrupt cities, at which time millions of straight R ticket votes would appear and overtake the fraud made in Philly, and Detroit, and Atlanta, and Pittsburgh. We might even sweep out the Schumers and the Waters and the Schiffs.

The covid vaccine is something I'm willing to agree with Freep on, honestly. It hasn't been tested to see if there's long term side effects or harm, and I personally don't feel safe taking a vaccine that hasn't been properly vetted. Granted most of them are just insane conspiracy theorists who think it'll have nanomachines or it's the Mark of the Beast, rather than actual plausible reasons.

And part of the problem is you can't test for long term effects without a long term. It's in the name. We quite literally can't tell what the effects of a drug will be in 40 years because it hasn't been 40 years. So all we have is best models and while I'm not happy with it that's what we got unless someone can Bill and Ted us out of this. Also if you look up vaccine history they've never done longitudinal studies. They're kind of always rushing things out to try and help.

I totally get being a little skeezed and scared by the vaccine(s) cause they can't be fully tested down to every single problem given the time-limits but... whelp global pandemic and they're trying the best they can with the time crunch. At a bare minimum get a god drat flu shot if you haven't already. It likely cuts down on comorbid symptoms and the worst case is you're less likely to get the flu. And the flu sucks.

I work at a substance-abuse treatment organization and we got word we're in the first wave to get the vaccine and I will fuckin sleep outside in line like waiting for tickets to a rock concert to get it if I have to. I am done with this bullshit, my dad has been fighting stage IV lung cancer since summer of '19 and I haven't seen him since that November, the day I get told the vaccine is effective and I'm immune is the day I am flying home to see my folks. When I get back I'm going to sit down in a restaurant for the first time since early March to eat a steak dinner then spend a weekend playing poker at the dog track. Maybe the horse track, if I'm feeling fancy. Also ask anyone who has ever been in the military about the "peanut butter" shot.

If it makes you feel better... We already know a lot about vaccine responses and side effects, most of the delay that's being skipped is petitioning for funds and getting approvals for tests and then ramping upmanufacturing. This is a simpler vaccine and we already have monitoring and reporting systems in place.

As a guy who gets a monthly infusion of a very new drug at a hospital that has stopped a terminal disease in its tracks, I can say the unknown is better than the known of dying. Could I have severe issues with blood clots in ten years? Almost certainly. But I don't have to use a walker anymore with the added benefit of living more than two years. (Got diagnosed with ALS, got "down graded" to Unspecified Motor Neuron disease when I responded to IVIG treatment. Still terminal, but IVIG actually reversed some damage and paused the nerve degeneration clock.) But, at my infusion yesterday, I heard something unexpected - Most of the nurses are really unsure how they feel about the vaccine. They are all pro-science and anti-Trump, but seeing how his administration has functioned for the last four years has the staff worried it has been poorly rushed by people who don't believe in science. They want A vaccine. But they are terrified of A vaccine quickly brought to market by Trump and Co. They also say front-line workers should be dosed in waves or severe/unexpected side effects could shut down hospitals. tldr - Side effects are better than death.

Well, admittedly the difference is dying of covid is also an unknown. This isn't me being conspiratorial, i.e. "it's not real/not that bad" but that I don't have COVID so the choice is not a binary die vs. possible side effects. It's possible I dont get covid, or I do get it one day and don't suffer too badly from it. Frankly I think if I got it, my odds are pretty good of surviving it as I have no outstanding health issues that would exacerbate it, so it'd be a really small chance I'd die from it. That said, I'd want it more to protect the people around me who would be vulnerable, and that is likely the overriding thought that will make me get it regardless. Also, glad to hear that treatment did wonders for you

By my criteria, I'm judging the harm that could come to others heavily. Also, unknown side effect doesn't necessarily equal death or harm. Someone getting covid most certainly does. That's why I would personally get it without regard to my own health.

Generally if someone says they are in the "military" it's because they are in the air force or navy. Soldiers and marines will almost always claim their branch while airmen and sailors like to let people make assumptions. I'm guessing the number of Freepers who served in combat arms is extremely low. It's always the air force supply people who end up driving the lifted trucks with molon labe stickers.

Yeah a lot of my family was in the army and my experience is that Army and Marines almost always describe themselves as soldier/Army soldier and marine respectively and will say “when I was in the Army/Marines.” If they were in combat they’ll at least mention where. “In the military” means they’re deliberately obfuscating to make you assume they’re not talking out their rear end. Hell its the same as any clique really. If you wanted to tell someone about your posting career to emphasize a point you’d undoubtedly specify that you were a something awful goon and not a 4chan pedo. E: also if you’re not familiar with the US military you might not know this but the Air Force is by far the chuddiest branch. Especially at the officer level they’ve been hugely influenced by right wing evangelicals. E2: and that’s not to shame non-combat people by any means but you can sort of tell. My best buddy in high school became a navy desk jockey but still had to see a few horrible things, like fishing kids’ bodies out of the water after a maritime accident in Korea. But he’s very candid that it was 1% horrible and 99% working out and playing D&D with other nerds, because he’s not trying to sound badass: Edgar Allen Ho fucked around with this message at 16:28 on Dec 5, 2020 |
