Tim Burton makes Violet Beauregard hyper competitive, because excessive gum chewing is such a small and petty thing to elevate to one of the seven deadly sins of childhood, but then the Oompah Loompah song is just about chewing gum anyway.

I love that the Tim Burton movie was all like 'this is going to be more accurate to the book and a more accurate adaptation overall!' and then it threw in the absolutely unneeded subplot about Wonka's dad being some sort of evil dentist.

Its nice that its Christopher Lee, but still, ugh. Wikipedia posted:Burton and August also worked together in creating Wilbur Wonka, Willy's domineering dentist father. Burton thought the paternal character would help explain Willy Wonka himself and that otherwise he would be "just a weird guy". Yes, Wonka IS a weird guy. That's the point. Fucks sake, Tim Burton.

Netflix paid hundreds of millions for the rights to stream Friends for a year or 2. Whoever wrote this script has no concept of money. It's especially dumb because they aren't just buying a dinosaur. Due to cloning technology and lack of alternate supply, they're essentially buying all of that breed of dinosaur. It's like the difference between buying a golden retriever, and buying the right to be the only person on the planet who can supply golden retrievers to anybody.
