If you want to know the two faces of my mom, here's what she gave me for Christmas:
1) My grandma's favorite Couch purse, to show me that not only did she support me transitioning but that she thinks my grandma would have too.
2) A wrapped jewelry box with chapstick inside.

This was my dad's mom but her and my mom were very close anyway, they got along great and had similar personalities. When me and my brother were kids they'd play the same basic trick every Christmas where they'd take the VIP present out of its package and hide it in with a gift no kid would want, and that fill up the packaging of the good gift with just whatever. So for example, I remember opening up a pack of Boscov's socks and finding Donkey Kong Country 2 under the socks, or on the flip-side when my brother wanted rollerblades she got them, took the rollerblades out of the box, put a single pencil in the box, and then sealed it back up and wrapped it. You'd think that even as kids we would have figured out the trick, esp. since like, the trick meant that all of our gifts had really weird weights and hefts, but we did not because me and my brother both were and are idiots.
