There's also the fact that the higher granularity of millimeter wave networks will provide better location tracking of individual devices. But of course saying anything like this gets you lumped in with "5G causes coronavirus" lol

lol yeah and I definitely don’t mean to say there’s not gonna be spying, I just think that the primary motivation is going to be automation/IoT and data will be leeched off as always. ever since I found out Roomba was selling customer floor plan data, I pretty much thought that he IoT already exists, it’s just the things don’t belong to u and it’s not the edgy consumer friendly diagram we get promised

I think what freaks some people out about 5G is that it uses the same millimeter wave range of frequencies as the airport scanners which are useless at best and outright dangerous at worst (the people working them regularly crank up the power so they can actually see anything, which for one exposure doesn't do anything but if you're a frequent flier could be a problem- and as an aside, yes they do circulate images of people's bodies amongst themselves for amusement and gratification). I don't think the scanners are part of a conspiracy since it was mostly self-dealing by Michael Chertoff to get them installed- a pre-Trump era Trump-level grift. The incident that led to them being installed (the 2009 underwear bomber) is one of the falsest flags that never flew, though.
