Cartoon Man posted:https://i.imgur.com/FlRLCCO.mp4 As far as gear-up landings go yep that's pretty perfect. Keep it off the ground as long as possible, let the plane get as slow as it can before you touch down. The plane will probably be a write-off (certainly the engine and propeller are) but looks like no one was injured. Hell, there doesn't even appear to be any FOD on the runway. It looks like a firetruck rolls up about 15 seconds after they stop moving, should they have parked in the runway for a better response time??

They shouldn't blast it down with firefighting foam unless it's actually on fire or looks like it's about to be, because the foam makes a huge mess and complicates towing operations and it would take way longer to get the runway back in service. In this case all they need to do is make sure the occupants are safe, drive up a crane with some ratchet straps, pick up and cart away the plane, FOD walk down the runway, and they're done. Couple of hours at most if they have the crane at the airport. If they don't have a crane, they might be able to jack it up and manually deploy the gear and tow it away. Doing all that in a pile of slippery foam would be the worst.

Ahh, gotcha. The one time I saw something similar happen they blasted it down before anyone got out, but I guess they had better intel that there was a fire or explosion risk.

Also, I'm no planesman, but I guess if you know you're going to have to do an emergency landing you use/dump almost all the fuel if you can, so fire risk is lower.

This was one of the first shots they did when Chris Evans was at the height of his buffness. Actors who have bulked up for a role like this generally lose tone during the shoot, as they're tired so their workout routine suffers, they're sweating a lot in the outfits etc so they do all the scenes where they're just wearing a t-shirt or less first. Apparently he asked if he could do the scene shirtless, like "I've never looked this good in my life you gotta let me show it off for the fans, c'mon"

I'm guessing maybe it's just a Canadian thing because it's similar here in some areas, I dunno why people are being lovely to you about it. I don't know if it's a bylaw or not in my hometown but when I was growing up shoveling the public sidewalk in front of the house was always part of the work involved, especially if you have elderly/disabled neighbours.

Stingwing posted:The town where I live has a guy drive a big snowblower thing down the sidewalk after it snows, I'm surprised more places don't do that That costs money. It’s cheaper to blame septuagenarians and night shift workers for not shovelling the sidewalk in front of their house or blame poors for not getting in cars and using the roads that were generously plowed and salted with public funds.

DC has a pretty sensible law that you must clear sidewalks adjacent to your property within 8 daylight hours of the snow ending. Plenty of time to get it done or hire someone if you can't. They mostly don't bother with residential, but commercial will sometimes get billed the cost for the city to send guys out to clear it plus a $25 fine. People who can but don't clear their sidewalks are assholes. It hardly snows in DC so it's not like it's a burdensome thing you do all the time. We got less than an inch of snow in 2020.
