The problem is that some vaccines are being held back now for the second dose because there is no guarantee that stock will be available for the second dose if they don't.

Yeah, that's stupid, in my completely uninformed opinion. Better to have the vaccines do some work than sitting in a storage cabinet, worry about the second dose later.

Of course, this all hinges on if the vaccine actually stops the spread, if it only makes the disease non-symptomatic but you could still spread it, that second dose becomes a lot more important.

IMHO it's way more important to get everyone over the age of 65 vaccinated to 95% efficiency and then reassess the situation and figure out what to do with everyone else. That'd slash the number of patients required ICU beds and also slash the number of deaths.

Of course if you're getting the new South African strain which spreads as quickly as the UK strain but also seems to cause much more severe symptoms in young people then you're hosed regardless

E: there's reports that the UK government is making GBS threads bricks about the SA strain because they think that the vaccines might not be as effective against it, but there's no official word on that yet

my old lady dane unexpectedly needed a change of food, so I got to go hunt for it because it was an immediate need.

First shop: about 1/3rd masked, the rest weren't

Second shop: almost everybody was masked except one rear end in a top hat who decided to yell in the middle of the store how stupid we all were. he got decked. it was great.

Third shop: mostly masked but the ones who weren't were wearing trump hats and I think it was some kind of protest because every. single. one. had the hat on.

Fourth shop: same thing as third

Fifth shop (Tractor Supply) : even the employees weren't wearing masks lol

Don't come to Augusta GA.

Thankfully I haven't seen people inside my very third-worldy Mexican supermarkets without a mask (they remove it once they leave the building). I'm gonna guess security really did their job this time.

I also wonder what's gonna happen with Trump's super fans once he is kicked out of the white house for real. Are they gonna slitter back in to obscurity? Are they gonna try to do their dreamed civil war?

The school year is what...4 or 5 more months.

It makes sense to keep them closed the rest of the year, have summer as a buffer, then reopen in Sept. after 9 months of vaccinations.

I don't know why these establishments insist upon having retail workers engage with anti-maskers at all. Go into lockdown and ignore them until they're thrown out.

Ineffective. It needs to be "No mask, no entry" for the entire building, with immediate removal of the person by a security personnel, by force if necessary.

Not only that, but don't engage at all. Let them sit in an empty store with nobody to argue with until the cops get there.

Edit: They're there to fight with retail employees who can't fight back. Don't give them the satisfaction. It's easy.

I agree 100% and they absolutely should do that but a security guard got shot and killed for doing just that to some lady. They probably don't care enough.

We should hire all new police officers and put the current ones as mask enforcers.

From CNN.

quote:

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a national lockdown for England Monday night on the heels of a warning from top medical advisors that the country’s National Health Service was in danger of being overwhelmed by coronavirus cases within 21 days.

“It is clear that we need to do more to bring this new variant under control,” Johnson said. “That means the government is once again instructing you to stay at home.”
The lockdown is expected to remain in place at least through the middle of February.

Coronavirus cases are surging in the country due to the new variant, with 30% more Covid-19 patients in hospitals in England on Monday than a week earlier.

The announcement for England follows an announcement earlier Monday that Scotland would go into lockdown. Wales and Northern Ireland, the other two nations of the United Kingdom, were already in lockdown.

I was so deeply confused of why they weren't being kicked out immediately, or why didn't the actual cops kicked them out? Like, if I make a fuzz on a walmart I'm probably going to find my butt in the street in less than 5 minutes.

Or I'm gonna end on a viral video were people in my whole country are mocking me and calling me "lady karen" or something like that.
