I mean everyone has been heavy WFH this last year, but ironically the biggest tech companies like Google, Amazon, etc have a long standing history of trying to do the opposite. The reason they have cushy offices, games, all kinds of on campus services, bars, etc is to try to keep people in the office as much as possible. So, I was watching all the crazies over at https://www.ar15.com/ talk all their crazy, reactionary poo poo. I was going to do a post about it all, but man, it was just too depressing. The sane ones were saying "Trump's gone, give it up, he orchestrated a coup, it's over", and of course the others were "gently caress off commie, we're taking America back, I don't care how many libs I have to kill! In fact, the more, the better!" It was about this time the board moderators stepped in to post "Hey, stop posting this poo poo in General Discussion, it needs to go to the Politics section. Oh, and stop talking about all the people you want to kill, we want this website to be able to stay around you know!". Many didn't like this. Called it censorship. Called it being weak in the face of oppression. Called it a holocaust etc. Others were resigned like "Yup, we're going to have to tone it down", others threatening to leave, not paying a membership fee any more etc etc. And others tripling down, as of course they would because the internet is a terrible, terrible place. As of the last few hours, https://www.ar15.com/ is not available on the web. So, anyone want to guess about the possible reasons for this happening? It's fun to speculate sometimes.

http://acecomments.mu.nu/?post=392026 These guys ("Ace of Spades HQ") were a somewhat interesting read during the 2012 election. Unlike Freepers, where I can't recall EVER reading a post from one of them purporting to have done anything like phonebanking or canvassing, only posting and whining, there were some people on the forum who seemed to have a little tech knowledge and who did stuff like do volunteer work for the Romney campaign, and they complained about how poo poo the "Narwhal" project was (IT/digital campaign app) compared with the Obama campaign's efforts, and just generally seemed YOUNGER in language and attitude compared with freepers. Checking in during the last year or so they're just loving boring. They read almost EXACTLY like freep now except freep is even slightly more interesting. I don't know if Trumpism makes these righty forums all conform to the same mold of Trump worship and infallibility and thus more homogenous and boring, but it's happened. Maybe almost ten years later them being fiftyish instead of fortyish makes them more freeperish. All bog standard Trump stuff, "we had a great landslide stolen from us", "it's going to be the Pres. Harris administration", and simultaneously the violence was all Auntie Fa but also Ashli Babbitt was a goddam military vet HERO who was unjustifiably murdered in cold blood, but Law and Order and Back the Blue! Feh. Oh, but there are posters advocating a General Strike to hamper the ChiCom Harris Administration though, so I thought that was interesting.
