The Cameo posted:Millennials are currently on a negative population growth trajectory, so that’s doubtful. About three out of every five children born to Millennial mothers were already born before 2018. There is no baby boom for Millennials to have, because economic forces have basically squashed the ability to have a level of comfort for enough of the generation to even consider having kids. I didn't think there could possibly be an upside to coming of age into an utterly destroyed economy, but look at that: I can never afford a house, but at least I'll never see reboots of Look Who's Talking or 3 Men and a Baby.

Out for Justice also has one of the goofiest act 3 finales ever, which is Seagal and Forsythe fighting each other to the death with common household items inside a living room. Also, he knocks a man out and a dog pisses on the man.

Firstborn posted:Oh, absolutely. I seem to remember more than once instance of Segal literally begging crimepunks to fight him, getting on his knees and saying, "I'll close my eyes on my knees, you kick me in the face first, go ahead take your best shot" The judoka Joe Lewis choked him out so bad he shat his pants after Seagal claimed he could not be choked out. Gene Lebell witnessed it and talked about it publicly, then got hit with a gag order He's also been accused of human trafficking

Not sure where you got Joe Lewis from, who was a kickboxer and Karate point fighter.

oldpainless posted:The thing about Segal movies, from what little I can remember, is that he never seemed in actual danger in fights. He just kicked the poo poo out of everybody with no drama or danger to his character From what I remember watching the first few (Hard to Kill and Out For Justice, i think) when they were originally released, that was part of the appeal. It was very different from a standard action movie where the protagonist struggles and is hurt but eventually succeeds, I think in both theres some initial setback/injury, but then once things get started he's just effortlessly unstoppable. Its pornographic violence, in the "mindless wish fulfillment" sense.

I appreciate that kind of thing when they balance it right, most Bruce Lee movies operate on that logic as do the good Tony Jaa movies, for example. Seagal is lazy though and he's just kind of standing there tapping dudes' ankles when they "kick" him and then fly away.

Bruce Lee has a really intense screen presence that makes you believe he's a badass (no doubt aided by him actually being a badass.) Seagal just never had that.

Seagal looks like a less intimidating Craig T Nelson.

Then best Seagal movie is Under Siege 2, because Eric Bogosian is having the time of his life as the bad guy.

Anyone who likes Bogosian should definitely check out Talk Radio. Never gets talked about, but just a great performance from him.

There's a lot wrong with this and I'm stuck on this: Why in the goddamn hell is Brie Larson's name centered within the text above, but Rami Malek's looks left-aligned, but also nudged to the right a bit?!

I'm going to have to check my blu-ray when I get home, because the front cover I'm seeing online is a similar version to the one on that poster (way less emphasis on Rami). I could've sworn my copy has the poster from the film, which might not sell it to those who haven't seen it, but makes a ton of sense if you have. Love that film. https://www.blu-ray.com/Short-Term-12/238919/
