I'm a geek for drum cams and often have them running on a second monitor while working - I've watched those Lombardo cams of Angel and War too many times to count. Eloy Casagrande from Sep released one last week that might be my favorite drum cam ever and I'm not sure why. I guess it's because he hits so fuckin hard yet is right on the money. The app he's promoting is pretty cool, though I question whether it's as good as he's advertising here. Regardless, I think he's about as good as it gets. I enjoyed the last couple of Sepultura albums, though they're definitely aggressively unmemorable since I can't remember a single riff or chorus off of them despite having them on relatively frequent rotation. Eloy's definitely the Sepultura MVP at the moment. The Rutan influence on the guitar work is fantastic too. Really hoping the production on the "official" release is a little punchier, but I'm pretty excited about the album.

The new Mefitis album is pretty unique sounding offkilter death metal, sort of hints of the weirder bits of early At the Gates and maybe a bit of The Chasm. Hessian Firm seems like an interesting label, their writing style and general tastes appear to be really indebted to the old anus.com reviews except without the cryptofascism and about 25% more coherent, so you end up with compositionally interesting black and death metal albums with slightly highbrow bandcamp descriptions.
