TechnologyConnections is so good that I hoard the episodes... which I know is dumb. Is there some rule about having a playlist of content that starts at the beginning and ends at the last, most recent episode? It seems like such a nobrainer, but very few have it at all. If someone knows such a playlist for TechnologyConnections I will be ever grateful

Nah he’s high quality and passionate about some things just it’s taking him awhile to sort out space and he frequently reviews poo poo that’s unusual technologically but not something he is personally passionate about (his home video camera series he’s really excited for). Yeah I download the stuff I really like off of youtube, because who knows what's going to get taken down for some reason. I never thought of throwing them on Plex, might be fun to set up a channel in there for randomly shuffling stuff from my favorite time-killer channels without having to go through youtube. ... now I want to rip down the entirety of TASVideosChannel, World of Longplays and GDQ. That's gonna cost me some space lol

Same, I download everything. Even if a copyright claim doesn't happen, sometimes YouTube itself will pull content for being "offensive" with zero explanation of what the channel possibly did wrong.

Youtube-dl my good goon, it’s a hell of a program. Output it to a location of your choosing and let Plex do its thing. Getting the YouTube agent working is a bit finicky and isn’t perfect but it’s good enough for government work.

Similarly jDownloader is my one of choice as it will also rip the audio as a separate stream so if you have a music playlist you get MP3s/M4as which of course Plex deals with if listening for audio at the export folder. iirc you can pass a flag to ytdl to do the mp3 thing or the like, but it’s a bit video dependent. Also you need ffmpeg installed so that makes things a bit weird for Windows folks. I’ll have to give jdownloader a look the next time I need some music. In a related matter, remember all those downloaded apps that used to be popular for Firefox/Chrome that somehow made downloads better? What was the deal with that? I’m fairly sure they weren’t viruses as the one I used, name escapes me, was pretty ubiquitous.

Way back in the modem days you had getright which did resumes, a revelation The more recent Firefox one that comes to mind is downthemall which added threading and sequential filename wildcards for grabbing a whole directory.

If it ever fails, just re-run, it'll continue where it left off. This was back when "downloading Linux ISOs" actually meant downloading Linux ISOs, and I'd fire off a 600MB download before going to sleep and hope it got pretty far before the modem disconnected.

I had a recent bad experience with the official store getting my Varsity Jacket so went elsewhere. This arrived today yay!

We used to get daily RAM prices as well, they were unique and like stocks and shares. we'd get daily prices from the far east and the trick was to buy cheap, hold the stock and sell it when prices rose. I'm only familiar with Rambus because I worked at a place that did computer recycling/refurbishing and we had a handful of Rambus machines come through. I built a couple and they were fine, but the whole must-have-matched-sticks-or-terminators thing was weird. That was around when DDR2 was the current standard and most of the machines we handled were DDR1, and the Rambus was a weird oddity.

Got my Tower of Power 90% working. Got the CD player and tape player last weekend. The tape player works fine, the CD player however needed some work. First off the belt needs to be replaced for closing the tray, which I will order soon. The other issue was each time the CD player would try to seek, there was a nasty gear noise. I pulled the lid off it and had a look. The issue was the guide rails that the laser head moves on were gummed up, and the toothed rail that the allows the head move from the motor goes into a kinda fail safe that allows the motor to spin without chewing the hell out of the plastic gears or teeth. A good clean down and a little bit of lithium grease and all is well.  Next up is working out how to properly balance a tone arm on a record player so I can add that to this tower. Maybe get a proper hi fi unit as well as everything isn't resting on top of the amp.
