my new fave is when someone says "the EU must end/reverse this decision" when it all stems entirely from Britain's decision. We will literally just demand into empty air that another country must bend over backwards to accommodate our worldview. This country is going to poison itself by huffing its own poo poo until we align with the 2024 trump administration into some kind of new Axis power.

Probably not many, but their leader needs to be one of the 11 lib dem MPs and they are all terrible. Remember when they had a leader who attacked Blair's Labour from the left and they had 60 MPs? lol

My favourite variation on this is "the EU is exploiting Brexit to put the interests of its members ahead of Britain". You mean the thing a loving union is explicitly established for? These muppets seem to think trade deals are something that are settled in an afternoon, over brandy with a gentleman's agreement and a firm handshake, and not bitter years-long negotiations where both parties try to screw each other over the tiniest pettiest details. The UK is now a trade rival to the EU. It's absolutely its duty to exploit Brexit in each and every area that benefits its member states.

I'm in Northern Ireland and the supermarkets that run supply lines through Britain are really getting hammered. I was in Tesco earlier; the fresh produce section was spread really thin. Areas that previously held 6-7 different varieties of veg are now just stocked with whatever they can source to fill out shelves. No pak choi or coriander but hey, why not try a delicious turnip from our new expanded turnip section? Frozen veg seems to be similarly hit. There's an entire aisle of empty freezer cabinets. Meanwhile the European supermarket chains, like Lidl and Eurospar, source their produce either locally on the island of Ireland, or have supply chains coming in from direct shipment from the continental EU to Ireland and seem to have almost no shortage issues.

I got an email from Amazon telling me that one of my favourite whiskeys (Bushmills' Black Bush) was on offer. But due to Brexit Amazon is no longer able to ship Northern Irish spirits to Northern Ireland,. They have to go through export declarations to ship to Amazon's distribution centre in GB, them go through further export declarations to ship it back from GB to Northern Ireland's EU customs zone. The government is still sticking to their hardline propaganda that there is no internal Tory sea border between Britain and NI.
