Gamestop wasn't anywhere near going out of business, it was turning in consistent profits before the hedge funds started artificially driving the stock price down

Gamestop is so profitable they've been consistently closing hundreds of stores a year for half a decade.

Detective No. 27 posted:Gamestop is so profitable they've been consistently closing hundreds of stores a year for half a decade. This is because of their original policy of keeping all the eb games and funcoland or whatever stores open after taking them over, leading there to be multiple gamestops within even the same mall.

As someone how worked at GameStop for 2.5 years until they closed my store right before COVID lockdowns, they ain’t doing good. Pretty much every week was a new policy they’d revoke the next week. Upper management didn’t know what they were doing and were completely disconnected from the in store workers. They had like 3 new store concepts that probably died because of COVID restrictions. They wasted time trying to adapt to a digital and I highly doubt they’ll make it to the next console generation.

now that i think about it, the problem with gamestop is that it is a used game resale store in an environment where digital sales means you don't have a used game to sell. sort of like how used video and CD stores all died out a decade ago
