I don't know if I'd even enjoy it on a console with a controller, the weapon swapping would be a pain in the rear end I would think I used a controller on pc. It wasn't that bad since when you bring up the weapon wheel time gets really slow. Which of course the speed runners used to perform that awesome turbo leap thing

That new Nintendo Direct was just dire. There's nothing in there that looks anymore more than mildly interesting that is coming out this year. I don't even know what those guys are doing, my switch is getting real dusty.

the switch has so much good poo poo i've filled a 1gb sd card and keep needing to archive stuff when new things come out i mean yeah a lot of it is first party nintendo stuff so if you're not into that it can be a drag, but even then there's a million decent ports and stuff the real problem with the switch is the fact that joycons kinda don't hold up to the kind of abuse they're expected to, and the store is so loaded with shovelware and the interface is so bad that it's literally difficult to browse unless you know exactly what you want already

I would watch golf as an actual sport if it was essentially what we saw demonstrated as 'speed golf' in the Mario golf trailer. Kind of like a biathlon for warm countries.

i was excited when someone at work said skyward sword was coming to switch since i never got a chance to play it, but then i watched the thing and wtf is with the sword controls? i dont wanna wag my arms around to do the sword and i certainly dont wanna use an analog stick for it either did that game rely on directional sword swipes that much? also breath of the wild is the worst zelda game in the series

The fact they're advertising you don't have to use motion controls I think shows they realize how unpopular the motion stuff was.

Even with them gone, skyward sword was a chore to play. Like worse than ocarina somehow, and that's one of the worst games in the series.

Skyward Sword is such a not good game that even after removing its absolutely glaring core issue of the motion controls it would still be a mediocre to bad game. There was a very, very long stretch of very not good Zelda games that got way too high scores

Majora's mask and Wind waker are the only good 3d Zelda's the others are lovely 3d action games with bad controls and dumb puzzles, or Botw which is just sort of boring after awhile and has poo poo dungeons. 2D zelda is in every respect a better form of the franchiseGhost Leviathan posted:Didn't a lot of Zelda fans lose their goddamn minds at some reviewer giving Twilight Princess 8.8? I don't know what the angry bitter nerds were waiting for, but it boggles the mind that anyone who really wanted another Shenmue could really dislike it that much. I can't help but think they wanted the game to make them feel like the first one did when they were 20 years younger and then got mad at it when that didn't happen they hosed up the combat so bad in 3 i couldn't bring myself to finish it. one and two have a free roaming virtua fighter style system with dorals move list and a counter button. three had this nightmare rpg like priority system for doing moves. shenmue without the fun combat is way too bland, like a sandwich comprised entirely of bread.

Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and Skyward Sword was a stretch of really bad games for 5+ years straight. The only other franchise to survive something like that is Sonic and with Sonic we aren't all supposed to pretend their good.

I remember playing Phantom Hourglass on a plane as a kid and being stuck for like, 2 hours trying to figure out how to blow out candles before I sighed into the screen really hard and blew them out. Like, you were supposed blow into the microphone to blow out the candles. Infuriating.

i don't think any of the non-2d zeldas ever had good gameplay but it's really more about the world itself and walking around in it and interacting with characters the n64 ones have terribly boring dungeons and majora's mask feels too much like a romhack for me to really like it any more than oot, which i already don't care for much. wind waker is only slightly better, never played twilight princess but at least it looks like it has cool characters

I haven't been back to it much, but it's an alright game. The thing that really dirked me off though was that coming from D16, the enemy graphics seemed a lot worse. Apparently they actually are higher poly count, but to me (and apparently a lot of people) they just look a LOT worse. Considering the environments are mostly "Brown or other wasteland" it feels overall like a step down in graphical quality most of the time, which sucks.

I absolutely loved Metroid Prime back in the day, but it's an absolute chore to play now. Basically same with anything that used the Wii motion controls. Mario Kart, Smash, and the 2d Mario/Donkey Kong games are basically the only first party Wii games that are still fun.Lodin posted:The next No Man's Sky patch will turn the game into Pokemon so now it's probably the best game ever. I have zero interest in playing Minecraft outside of "turn off enemies and build poo poo", but I imagine that'd be similar.

The Switch is pretty much just an indie machine to me right now. Last year the only two games I put much time into were Animal Crossing and Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, the latter a game I'd already played on PC the year before. Other than that I just pick up the odd smaller game from time to time if it looks interesting and is cheap. That said, the only game I played on PS4 last year was Sushi Ghost and otherwise I just use the thing for Netflix and Plex. PC is my main go to these days. My unpopular (?) video game opinion is that Tyranny is a very good old school CRPG with combat that sadly gets a bit naff after a while.
