I had a Miata specialist shop install the roll bar. I'm too lazy and scared to spend 8 hours tearing apart the car to do it myself.
The 17x8's didn't need a fender roll. The car is lowered though but not a crazy amount. Running -1.8 camber all around. No rub or anything like that. I believe GWR said you can run it on stock suspension without issues though.

Was thinking about looking into an ND at some point in the future. I wouldn't be taking it to the track, so I'm thinking of the grand touring provided that still gets you the diff with the mt. Besides that, is the horsepower boost from the ND to ND2 really worth the extra cost if you're not going to track it?

Probably not because the real upgrade is the boosted rpm limit and you can get that with OBD tuners. I think it's worth it if you're more interested in reliability though, since you'll be getting forged engine internals, later revisions of the transmission, and a dual mass flywheel which should also help the transmission.

Truth. Why in the gently caress do the trans drain and diff fill and drain have flat, washer sealed surfaces and big hex plugs but the loving trans fill has to be pipe thread with a small rear end plug?

Boo, took it out for a tootle round the block and noted my clutch pedal seemed a bit harder than I remember. After a short period of time it reverted back to usual and then decided to go floppier than it should and refused to go into gear.

Clutch master is still full of juice so it doesn't seem like anything is leaking. Do the sages have any idea to narrow down the cause? NB if it matters.

Probably worth doing both of these considering it's £49 total for new ones. I love cars that have cheap parts!

The clutch master / slave on NA/NB Miata's is somewhat considered a consumable, I would replace both. Like you said though, cheap parts. Treasure Coast Miata has a kit that includes both the master / slave and a steel braided line to get rid of the god awful, impossible to bleed, clutch hardline.

They're also wonderfully easy to replace. Completely agreed that it's not worth going far in diagnosing exactly where the failure is because the best answer is always replace both.

Another question, were I to get a miata it'd be my primary car. My husband and I have a station wagon as well, so it isn't like we don't have a practical vehicle, but also wanted something fun outside of the motorcycles we have. With this new job, I work from home all but one day a week and my drive into the office is about 15 or so minutes. Would an ND be a reasonable "daily driver" in this case?

storage space is a bit lacking on the ND, the trunk opening is a bit narrow, and the cabin can only be described as "cozy".

it gets ~33+ mpg all day long and is a hoot to drive. you can go get groceries in, you just can't go to costco.

I've failed an NB for years. It's great and makes every trip a bit more fun. Now I WFH (and our office is across the street anyway) and I kind of miss having the excuse to drive every day.

As said, the trunk is kinda small, but you can stack stuff on the passenger seat if you have an unusually large stack of stuff to take home occasionally.

Otherwise, it would work great.

I have a FIAT 124 Spider, my wife drives an Odyssey. I'll wait for the van if I need to haul 8' lumber from Home Depot, otherwise the Spider does just fine for 99% of what I do.

I daily drive an ND softtop as my only car. I actually do go to Costco in it but you just can't get too overzealous. If you don't have a passenger though you can definitely get about a full cart of stuff into the trunk + passenger seat. If I needed to have a passenger regularly it might make me reconsider it because I do use that space a lot and I know that side is actually more cramped than the driver's seat.

But it's also fantastically practical how tiny it is overall, it parks so great in cities and tight spots.

I've had a NC1 as my daily for years and never had qn issue. Wife has a CR-V and that was the Costco car.

My NC is filling my daily driver role as well as about 85-90% of what I want out of my motorcycle (mainly just cruising on days with nice weather, but it doesn't have that same punch as nailing the throttle on the bike). I still have my Grand Marquis for when I need to get large things.

My NB is my dry weather car- I don't drive it in the wet because I want to slow the progress of the rust. I have to be mindful of how I shop, but it can carry a full week's worth of groceries for our family of three. I just have to fill up the passenger seat and footwell, carefully.

As I put my NB back together it seems the wiring for the fog lights and front markers are routed correctly but I don’t have enough length to make it to the fog lights. The fog light plugs on the back of the lights do face down correct?

I drive an ND2 as my only car and have never really wanted for more. Regular errands have never been a problem, and you have the wagon anyway. It's a hoot to drive, even in the city and I always look forward to it. Great gas mileage as well. I drive half in the city, pay zero attention to my mpg, and am usually driving spiritedly like a jackass and still get almost 32 mpg.

True its limited on storage, but what it does have is fairly efficient(as stated assuming it fits through the trunk opening.)

I even live in MN and have been driving it all winter(on good snow tires) without any issue. Granted I work from home so I never really *have* to go out.

I had a super rusty, bone stock (other than stupid sticky tires) '97 NA i used as a DD and loved it- even smoked some race prepped slick tire miatas in autoX. Costco runs on the way back were no issue if I stacked the passenger seat full.

Now I have a super clean, modded out rust free '95 and only use it for nice backroad rips - if I were to do it over again Id get a clean (or new) stock ND and DD it.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but if the rear tires are the same diameter, why would the diff have any issues? Wouldn't it be more strain on the rest of the drive train?

If there's any sort of functional limited slip in there, that in conjunction with the massive increase in tire weight / diameter could cause problems. Same way a skimpy little Dana 30 will hold up better to big tires when it's an open diff, but the action of a limited slip / locker / spool brings much larger shock loads.

So Bridgestone discontinued the RE71 in 205 width (stock ND size). Is the Direzza ZIII a close enough substitute? Although maybe the correct answer is get some wider wheels :getin:

The Z3 should be fine. Idk if the Hankook RS4s are available in 205/45R17, that's another decent option.
