Because he's by far the most high profile CC and I've heard no one criticizing CVs in general, the CV rework, Christmas lootboxes and the commander skill rework more than him. What else is dumb?

Jingles is probably the biggest in terms of youtube following but i dont even think he himself plays the games anymore or a lot less than he used to. He never posts his own replays. I don't know why anyone would care about being CC, all it gives them is prerelease ships you aren't allowed to talk about and access to a CC chat server where the developers can tell you that your yamato only dies to CVs because of poor sector management. I mean maybe you get extra viewers by putting CC in your name but they have too many to keep track anyway. Flamu is annoying though, and also unironically saying the Riga is overpowered is just inexcusable.

Toxic or whatnot, legitimately only Gaishu (7 times straight clan battles champions, including two years where they got bored and created a second clan to be number 2 as well as number 1), is a CC with actual hands down better pedigree in terms of game sense and results.

Flamu's not a bad guy, he's just a product of this game and it's developer. He mostly nags on the game and the playerbase with heavy amounts of sarcasm, but I've never heard him be outright hostile to someone in the traditional 'toxic gamer' way.( slurs, etc) Kinda glad I stopped playing this game at the end of last year. Every choice and change they made seems to make the game worse and I'm glad I'm no longer giving WG my money.

I only came back late last year to have some fun before they put in subs and permanently ruin it. Every change just keeps making the game worse, and they can never get the core balance right before they just shove in some meta-upending gimmick to force people to spend more money. I never even got to respec all of my ships, so now I’d be stuck spending money if I go back and play my older ones. I’m going to go against the grain and say I’m actually enjoying the game a lot right now. Partly it’s playing tier 9 ships, which avoid cvs a fair amount, but I don’t find deadeye play as cancerous as some. I’m a very aggressive bb player and with enemy bbs at the far lines I’m able to crush cruisers and use island cover to stop them from punishing me.

His Youtube guides on individual ships are useful to get a comprehensive overview on strength/weaknesses of that ship and how to use them effectively in the game... all in relatively short video. On Twitch he's just a salty asshat who get's angry at other players for doing stupid moves (welcome to WoWS) and get's bitter when someone steals a kill from him, denying him his Kraken. To be fair, I probably also would get bitter if I had to stream the same game for a living every day.

I've never watched any Twitch stream - I'm old fashioned and prefer to play than watch (not being smart as I know watching streams is a massive deal and perfectly acceptable). But I have seen some of Flamu's twitch highlight videos on YT, and yes there is a definite change in tone. But then, the only other Twitch streamer that I think I've seen highlights of on YT is Asmongold so what does that say about the state of Twitch streamers? As someone who plays a lot of WoWs and gets at least one chat ban every month, I can relate to being toxic or salty in-game it has to be said.

It's pretty hilarious how people have forgotten how much of an asshat Flamu used ot be. He's not really that toxic anymore, just salty af. WG are a bunch of thin skinned babies. This shouldn't be news to anyone though. I think the two best streamers are Potato Quality and Gaishu from a skill perspective. They both happen to have pretty good personalities as well. edit: toadee is pretty  too

Haven't actually heard of this Gaishu so will look them up. Potato Quality is close to being the best but the one really, really annoying thing about him is his insane bias towards BBs. I watched a few of his videos and it was like "Hmm he hates CVs, fair enough everyone does". But then it moved into HE is too OP and I thought, well yes on Conq and Thunderer its absurd but in general its fine IMO. And then I watched one of his videos where he claimed the Khabarovsk is OP because it could just about solo a lone BB. This is the without-a-question-worst-T10 in the game Khabarovsk we are talking about here. Ffs, if he could be a little less whiny and obviously BB biased he would be top drawer.

Flamu gets mad at idiots in game, but he's not cruel about it. Even when people submit replays of their own terrible skills, he cuts them slack because they're trying to get better. He gets the toxic reputation from his god-awful fans. I don't watch his streams much but I happened on one where he was off taking a quick break and someone donated $5 to autoplay an extremely racist song. Like, so bad that I was actually offended, and I've been on SA for a while.

I've been out of the meta for a while. DDs: In almost all cases, first 10 points are: PM, LS, SE, CE Then Fill the Tubes, Adrenaline Rush for a torp boat are safe choices. MBAA (Range) and Adrenaline Rush are good choice for a gunboat. Thats 17 points suitable for nearly any DD. BBs: Gun Feeder or Emergency Repair Specialist Grease the Gears (GTG) or Priority Target Adrenaline Rush Concealment, Deadeye Thats the basic 14 point Deadeye build which works on every high-tier BB. I'd take Fire Prevention or Emergency Repair Expert after that. Hopefully this will change a lot in the next few weeks when Deadeye is nerfed. Cruisers: Bit more variety here. GTG, PT, SI, CE still works for the first 10 points. Top Grade Gunner is decent on nearly every ship after that. There are also some ships that work well with a max (ie bad) concealment build eg HIV For those take Top Grade Gunner, Heavy HE and Heavy AP in whatever order and drop Concealment Expert CVs: AS, IE, AA, SE still an almost mandated 9 points. Quite a lot of variety after that but since most people don't play CVs I won't bother going into it.

Speaking of Flamu, I made the mistake of watching his stream for a while. YouTube Flamu is definitely a few degrees of tolerability higher than Twitch Flamu, because in the ~15 minutes we had a bunch of his viewers trying to argue that the SS weren't actually nazis and were just elite soldiers (the debate spilled over to Flamu's comments as well, and to his credit he did stomp on the lil' Eichmanns fast) and then Flamu telling his viewers about what a great rear end his girlfriend has. Yeah. I think I'm good.

Ohio has overmatch, decent reload and a quick-fire heal. Can't ever really see the meta or game changing so much that those combination of things would ever make it a poor ship. Secondaries are just a little bit of gravy on top if the meta ever changes back to brawling once deadeye is changed/removed. I still enjoy it. Yolo is very attractive though. I feel like a great white shark playing it, stalking the beach filled with happy people swimming around unaware before charging in and taking a few out. Eventually someone is gonna throw a scuba tank into your fearsome maw but hell, there's nothing more satisfying in the game than taking someone out in a single shot and that's pretty much the Yolo speciality. masterpine fucked around with this message at 07:59 on Mar 7, 2021 |
