It's funny. This car is very clearly modeled after a Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S which I only recognized immediately since it's what I drive. The answer to this is "lol not much."

Right, but my point is that there's no way that car was going fast enough to flip her up in the air to the point where her leg is comedically sticking out to then be deposited to the side.

This was avoidable, is what I'm saying.

My highschool girlfriend hit me from that distance in a minivan (it was an accident). Cars go faster than you might think. Tara probably didn't go up and over, but she very likely could have flopped onto the hood and then ragdolled off to the side.

I'm more stuck on the fact that Tara's cousin could have just backed the car away, but instead she chose to add an attempted murder charge on top of her breaking and entering into the restaurant. It's not even a crime of passion or anything, Team Evans had her make her crime more serious for no good reason. :psyduck:

As another BRZ driver I recognized the tail lights and went "wait, it takes like four seconds to hit kill-pedestrians speed if I floor it, at which point I've already gone well more than a couple feet".

I mean good on Evans for drawing a recognizable actual not-terribly-expensive sports car at least, I guess

It's going to end up like the kid in Rex Morgan getting hit, where it takes up the story for about a month and then we get a couple years of the perspective shifting to some fat gently caress with diabetes

e: except Evans is enough of a lovely person who's still upset about being bullied by girls in high school to give Tiff diabetes and then actually kill her

Tara's Cousin was clearly identified as An Evil Crazy Person in an earlier strip. So of course it follows that she would just try to kill someone.

I was waiting to cross a busy street with no sidewalk and a convertible mustang pulled up to take a right turn. I thought sure it had seen me since I was like 4 feet in front of it when it stopped completely. Nope. It accelerated into me suddenly with a break in traffic and I ended up in the womans back seat with my bike under her car.

I was actually mostly unhurt but a little surprised. Lady was freaking out and when she realized she hadn't killed or even really hurt me she bought me a new bike on the spot. Meh. Lucky I didn't go under.

That’s about how long to get to 35 mph which is iirc around where the 50% fatality rate for someone hit at that speed is.

Tara is a minor enough character that I can see the Evanses giving her some broken bones and maybe a dramatic coma. I'd be truly surprised if they killed her or gave her any long-term injuries.

Basically I expect she'll be hurt just bad enough and for just long enough for Bernice to make it all about herself, then she'll either fade back into the background or be written out entirely (since she is a bit of a hooligan. Tara has served her purpose of making Luann look good for being nice to her, but really isn't suitable as an actual friend).

This is it. This is why having one dimensional characters who fit into the binary of "good guy" and "bad guy" is so dull to read.
Rules for good guy: Will never, EVER really do anything bad. If they do, it wasn't on purpose.
Rules for bad guy: Will do literally anything bad, ever, as the plot requires.

There's no intrigue or nuance if a character who cackles as they leave the lights on in a room they're not using has the same potential for evil as a character who murders people from inside an ice cream truck. (sadly neither such character exists in Luann as it would require a new character design)

The title of this one is an untranslatable pun. The "공" in "공중" can be read as either "공원 중" which refers to the act of walking through a park or "공사 중" which refers to construction being underway. Neither version of "공중" is a real word, and without context most people would assume the latter meaning.

Hey, Korean characters work again. Somebody must have knocked the relevant Radium code back into place since the last time I tried to do that.
