Yup. Something that was hinted at previously, and made official canon in that Spectacular run. Between her and the Mike Murdock retcon, Zdarsky seems to really like giving super heroes siblings.

Speaking of, didn't realize he had another Spider-Man What-If coming out next month.

You guys should read the Zdarsky run. Another big change is Spidey's relationship to JJJ.
Reading the Zdarsky run is good advise in general.

How is Daredevil? I never cared a lot for that guy, but I'd imagine Chip is doing a good job?

Look into my eyes.
I didn't follow his Spider-man run, but Peter Parker:The Spectacular Spider-man 310 was talked up a lot when it came out so I read it, and it's a wonderful tribute to what makes Spider-man great.

Also, funny panels tax from that issue.

I think disliking Sex Criminals isn't really the best basis for not being interested in his Marvel work, but I can certainly understand why it would. He has vastly more range than what early Sex Criminals might suggest.

Yeah, Chip has really been flourishing lately. He still goes for comedy sometimes, but he's handled emotional drama well and he's done good work in indie horror as well.

Read Spider-Man: Family Business, a good OGN by Mark Waid, then Zdarsky's run on Spectacular.

Yeah, even if you don't normally like his work everyone who has ever expressed an interest in Spider-Man owes it to themselves to read Spectacular Spider-Man 310.

Having read a bunch of both Matt Fraction and Chid Zdarsky, Zdarsky definitely contributed a lot to the book, but that's really more a Fraction story.

I think my favorite part of this is that Pete was still stopping by for free hot dogs while being a billionaire. Also when he would be doing his Parker Industries thing Prowler would fill in as Spider-Man so I like to believe he told Hobie to also stop in for free hot dogs.

I took this suggestion cause I've seen it so many times, so I finally dropped the four bucks for a digital copy and..

.. just drat. It really just condensed everything that makes Spider-Man one of my favorites. I really wish I could get a physical copy of it now, so I may have to check ebay or something.

His run on Jughead is also just fantastic. I wish the Archie reboots had stuck with weird goofy comedy instead of going down the Riverdale high drama teens route.

I haven't read Archie since Waid left, but I definitely would not compare that part of its run to Riverdale at all beyond having the same characters.

Strange Cares
Nov 22, 2007

Right, it was really good as weird goofy comedy when the reboots started, but what they've been releasing lately (save for stuff like Jughead the Hunger, which rules) has been very directly inspired by Riverdale. Also, the mainline archie reboot had a sharp left turn into, like, people getting in car accidents and the like.

Nah, if it was like Riverdale, she would have been faking being in a wheelchair in order to get close to Hiram Lodge to sleep with him to anger Veronica or something.

Riverdale is so good.

Yeah, co-written with Ian Flynn. So I guess you are right!

Also I see the post-Waid issues are on Comixology Unlimited, so I might have to give them a read.

There's a *ton* of classic Archie there, too, which is cool.

Gaz-L

If it helps, Spencer dropped off the book pretty quick in favour of Mariko Tamaki.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina just kinda... stopped, but Kelly Thompson and Jen Bartel have been doing a sort of halfway house book which has horror elements but kind of positions Sabrina as more of a superhero than a demon spawn.

There’s been a few one shots, but nothing in the way of advancing either story in the past 5 years.
