Uglycat, you had never mentioned either Linda or Sky in this thread before that post about the Capitol riot where you dropped their names like everyone was supposed to know who they were. Your stories are interesting and you don't need a whole dramatis personae, just give like a sentence of context. That post would have made way more sense if you had prefaced it with "so, that Tennessee commune's got more Q drama involving a couple of members, Linda and Sky."

goon telephone says that 4chan was created after a purge of ADTRW, but really it was more than the anime-posters wanted a site that had better built in image hosting as well as a place where they could anime post in peace. in 2002, anime posting was regarded as distasteful and to be shunned, largely because of the number of open pedophiles and creepy people who posted about anime. many of these people ended up on 4chan after waves of punishment against pedophiles and creeps. but 4chan was going to happen anyway as a natural split from the forums

Great man is bullshit but the fact is that individuals can and do still have an impact on shaping history. I don't think you can say with certainty that without Moot making 4chan the timeline would still be more or less as it is. I don't think it was inevitable that someone would make a bafflingly popular imageboard modeled on 2chan, and I don't think it was inevitable that the person who would make it would sit idly by and let it become a hotbed of 'ironic' and then earnest Nazism. 4chan was not inevitable, and neither was it inevitable that 4chan or a place like it would become the new and wildly more successful version of Stormfront. Also Moot currently works at Google. If you need another reason to hate Google.
